  • Can?t afford a Camaro to transform into Bumblebee? Not a problem if you have a Cruze

No, you are not seeing a photoshopped stretched Bumblebee Camaro. What you’re witnessing here is the work of a BIG camaro fan in China who decided that he couldn’t afford the $200,000 price tag of a Camaro in China. What does one do in that situation? Take your current GM produced car [...]

And thus how the Chinese steal and repop everyone elses work.

They covet what they cannot have, and this eventually leads to one of them making a clone of what they covet.

Dude Nick's dad had that paint scheme for like 20 years on his '70 Monte. So why does every yellow car with black stripes pawned off as a "bumblee" wannabee?

No way he did that just to resemble the Camaro, maybe...
Muscle cars probably haven't caught on over there because every inhabited place with roads is tighter than New York and everywhere outside the city is dirt road. I really don't know why they haven't, but all the chinese people I knew thought they burned too much gas, even though their SUV's got like 14mpg.

            Used to own a Firebird.

that paint scheme was around long before the movie and not just on Camaro's

im more ticked off by the fact that a Camaro cost 200k in china due to the ongoing trade inequity

Yeah - The Camaro is $200k here, but if they import a Chinese car here, it's cheap as ****...

                  Screw free trade.

That Cruze looks pretty cool...too bad I doubt there'll be a coupe or SS version.

I would guess it has to do with Exchange rate 1 us dollar = 6.83318 Chinese Yuan Renminbi.

Camaro LS $23,040 USD = $157,436 Chinese Yuan Renminbi
                    Camaro 1LT $24,675 USD = $168,609 Chinese Yuan Renminbi
                    Camaro 2LT $27,375 USD = $187,058 Chinese Yuan Renminbi
                    Camaro 1SS $31,040 USD = $212,102 Chinese Yuan Renminbi
                    Camaro 2SS $34,225 USD = $233,866 Chinese Yuan Renminbi
Plus import tariffs I'm sure, i'm also told in China there's a 40% extra tax on any cars with engines over 4 liters.

probably right - it's a common mistake for people to use a "$" which denotes USD as opposed to a "元" which would denote the Chinese Yuan

Ewww... why would you want a Cruze SS? They slap the SS badge on enough cars that shouldn't have it. No, in all seriousness though I thought the Cruze's intentions is a non-hybrid gas efficient vehicle.

If it were a Cruze SS, it'd be faster than your car - it's just the successor to the Cobalt...

The Cobalt was considered the "economy" car as well - you can make a "hybrid version" - and then a 260-hp LNF version too...

I don't care if it's faster than my car - it's still a Cruze. Just like I don't care how fast a Civic is, it's still JUST a civic. Just like I don't care what they call a Neon SRT-4, it's still a Neon. You can put rose petals on shit but it still smells like shit, too. I guess I'm just not really hip to the new "let's take an average car that was not meant to have any type of performance done to it and then slap an SS badge on it."

And once again - what was the Nova/Chevy II before the it obtained the SS badge?

                              Nothing but an economy car.

                              Carry on.
