2/26/09 2010 Camaro Product Update – Ambient Lighting on 2LT and SS Models
There have been many inquiries from customers who saw a very early pre-production photo of the Camaro interior. The photo displayed a blue ambient light traveling across the top of the door panel inserts and on to the dash. This early concept proved to be very popular, and the product team worked on developing a similar feature for the production model.

As a result an ambient lighting feature is now a standard condition with the start of production on all 2LT and 2SS models. This light will have a light blue tint with Black, Neutral and Gray interiors, and reddish-orange tint when the Inferno Orange Interior Package is ordered. This feature is only in the door panels and not across the dash as the concept photo originally illustrated.
This feature is not an orderable option, but will be included on all 2LT and 2SS models at the start of production. No action is required by the customers or dealers to receive this feature.

That's pretty sweet...I want that for my car in red! That one tiny red light that is suppose to light up the window and lock buttons doesn't do SH!T

At the autoshow the Camaro rep there told me that the light would turn red when the RPM's redline. Anyone know anything about that?

Really, really, really. It's not going across the dash because they couldn't get it to work how they wanted and they didn't want a half ass product so they decided not to go across the dash. If it's not going across the dash, why in the world would they have it change to red when you redline the rpms? You wouldn't notice that in the door.

It'd be cool if the dash did it, but then again, I suppose there's a reason hardly any gauges do that either...only the one set of AutoMeters do...

I think you're overestimating how bright these are. If it was in the middle of the night - possible. During the day, not at all. Having seen the production version of the ABL, it's awesome don't get me wrong but even with holding my hand over the door panel while it was on I barely could see it.
