I thought generally speaking you can achieve more power with turbos than superchargers. Can you compare the advantages and disadvantages please?

Next spring/summer I plan on buying a 05-06 cobalt SS supercharged like you have. At that time you should be able to pick them up for 12 ish after the turbo version comes out.

""In the Camaro, the 3.6 liter’s horsepower should be around 260, Lutz said, Fuel economy, he said, will be around 17 mpg city and 25 highway""

So let me get this straight ........ the grand brand new "premium" state of the art 2009 Camaro with the V6 is going to get 25mpg highway.

My 12 year old 1996 V6 Camaro got 33mpg highway.
Our 2001 SS that is pushing 380-390HP gets 28mpg highway!!!

Sounds to me like they need to lighten it and do some more wind tunnel testing

                  The GTs make 300.

Agreed, but its gonna be hard to make it more aerodynamic when its shaped like a brick.

I guess I am unclear as to what V6 they are using. Is it a detuned version of the 3.6 DI from the CTS that makes over 300, or the 3600 v6 from the cheap family cars that makes 260.

Either way, with some fairly basic mods V6 5th gens will have the same hp as the current mustang gt. Unfortunately, the camaro is heavy and has less tq

I agree, but Im also not convinced it is as durable of a setup as a solid axle.

I didnt mean strength-wise. I meant holding up to daily use. Seems like a lot more moving parts with tolerances to increase over time.

well they are all 100,000 mile certified for no maintenence...

                                something the 10-bolt never was.

I agree there are more moving parts and more parts is more difficult to "get right"... but now they need to make sure they are correct...
