  • Since we have one already, I guess it's OK

Well, since Tom put up pics of his Mustang, I guess I'm brave enough to be a follower . . . This car was a 10th anniversary present from my wife. She found it in Fenton. I picked it up on April 15th. It's a 1966 hardtop, completely original, unrestored, and bone stock, with 83K miles on it. It came from Arizona originally and has no body rust at all. The paint is in decent shape, only a couple of small blemishes here & there, and the only thing really wrong with it is the steering. It needs new U-joints and an alignment, and I will probably do tie rods & shocks while I'm at it, "just because." It also needs new tires, as those are "vintage" square-cut tires on the original four-bolt rims. The 200ci inline-6 fires right up and runs great. The interior is also in excellent condition, and all original. It has factory air, a three-speed on the floor, and the original AM radio works fine too. I haven't yet decided whether to keep it numbers matching or to do something wild with it. This is going to be a "daddy-daughter" project, as my 6 year old is at least as excited as me about working on the car. It's definitely a cruiser, not a racer, but for my first foray into restoration it's a good one to start on, and both my wife and I love the vintage look of this car.

That is a beautiful mustang, especially for being unrestored!

I think almost any car enthusiast can appreciate the early pony cars!

Both of my younger brothers recently purchased '66 Mustangs, just like yours, but maybe with a little more wear. Both are I-6 cars, and run great. My youngest brother has an '88 302 sitting in the garage that some day my find it's way into the car, but otherwise they are just cruisers. Besides, they couldn't touch 383 cubic inches, without $$$$ right!!!

                  very very nice.

my boss is just finishing up his 66 stang, but it is very custom. so far, it has a custom built 351W with edelbrock and trick flow everything, pacesetter headers, flowmaster catback, edelbrock nitrous, and he may eventuall slap on a vortech. he expects to making upwards of 600 horses on the giggle gas by the time its finished next month. hes going a deep dark royal blue type color with metallic flake, carbon fiber hood for weight with ford racing 4 pins, modern muscle style wheels with some ET streets (something chip foose would do), ford 9 inch rear end, etc. should be awesome when shes done next month.

on the other side of the coin, we have the all original classics such as this one! detail it, get that minor work done, and cruise around in its original form for the summer. come october, put it away and start building!

Very nice car, but I agree with Mike, the 1st gen Camaros look a lot meaner than the 1st gen Mustangs. Nothing wrong with that, though, the classic cars are still sweet.

i would leave it numbers matching.. sure im a HP freak like anyone else ( worse then everyone else as the wife says) however old muscle cars that are numbers matching are becoming more and more unheard of.

VERY NICE AND VERY CLEAN.. def a diamond in the rough..
