  • Back on the road

finnished up my car this past weekend bought the motor and trans off my buddy, TCI full manual super street fighter 350th and a 383 milled flat and heads milled to 63cc... havent done a compression test but he said it was 13.5.1 when he was running it which should be close because even on premium it runs rough... i tossed in my isky cam and springs in, as well as my comp rev kit and solid timing gear set... right now it only has 1.5 rockers but i do have kammi10's 1.6's that will go on once i get some longer push rods and the new springs break in... only problem im having is a trans leak from somewhere and i need a higher powered alt mines only 63 amp and not holding a charge, but i need to change it to match the serpentine setup anyways instead of using my older style so that should fix it....

here are some pics as we put it back together...

please pay no attention to the greasy fingerprints i got on the camera... ha ha

Looks good, but I would take that Jegs sticker off. LOL.

When you get ready for push rods and a Alternator, PM me. I'll try to give you the best deal I can.

well im gonna nab my buddys 105 amp alt off his truck just to try see if it will work but if not ill probably want to get a 140amp i think they are like 180 bucks through jegs... pushrods im not sure the length yet the rockers didnt fit which kinda through summit they should fit stock style heads with stock pushrods but not even close so ill get a measurement and shoot it to ya once i find out...

i acctually had to modify the rockers a bit shaving the center to fit but im running comp solid roller lifters on a isky hyd. roller cam so i need very little lash for everything to work well...

my problem right now is i switched the alt to the one made for my serpentine kit 88 GTA style i think
but i went from a 3 wire SI alt to the 5 wire CS alt and cant find my 3rd gen hayes anyware to figure out the wiring of this new style alt... been trying to find it online most say you run it with 4 wires which i got the plug from autozone for it but dont know what to do with the last wire any help anyone?

thats the plan... right now ive got most the bugs worked out new alt is in and charging great, still have a leak in the trans somehwere but ill track that down before the M&G and im tossing in a high flow manual fuel pump i got because the electric pump cant keep up at full throttle... so just little stuff besides the lack of fuel it runs pretty good now squaks in every gear just gotta get use to being able to rev to 7,000+ rpms

anyone know of a good tune shop for carbed cars? preferable a dyno tune or something in SE michigan somewhere....

All Speed Performance in Muskegon has a chassis dyno with a wideband O2 setup. www.allspeedperformance.com - call and ask for Andy. I think it's around 100 bucks to tune on the dyno.
