  • took some snaps of my Work in Progress

hey everyone, figured it was time to finally post some pics of my car.. ill give some background info on it first.

its a 1983 Chevy Camaro Sports Coupe, originally came with the 2.8L V6, I bought this car from my girlfriend's grandma's neighbor.. he had it on his property not moving for like 10 years, and finally enough complaints got the cops involved, and the guy has to get rid of the car, originally he wanted 900 for it, then he brought it down to 500, then finally I bought it for 300.

i got this at the beginning of last june, now almost a year later, finally finishing up the v6 to v8 swap, I pulled the cruddy 2.8 out of the car and bought myself a 5.7L V8 L98 350 from an 87 Iroc, also got a 700r4 trans from another Iroc, doing a lot of work to this car, already put in Iroc sway bar and springs for the v8, waiting on my heddman hedders to come in the mail, very close to starting her for the first time, just need a battery and a 700r4 dipstick tube.

Are you gonna keep it looking like it did stock? That would be a pretty good sleeper. . .

yea i lucked out.. turns out it was a florida car, the guy bought it from florida in 96 drove it to michigan, didnt put oil in the car and spun a bearing, the car sat in his driveway from 98 till last year when i bought it, flat bedded it to my friends house, and we've been working on it since.. there is little to no rust on this car. dirty.. but not much rust.

Ben, it's got a v8 now if you read the post. Never cared for the front bumpers of the early 3rd gens, but overall a great deal and good price! Congrats and keep us posted -- will you be coming to the Meet & Greet?

                        $300.00
Ok.. what did the car look like originally.

Did you do any body or interior work.
                        Did the engine run?

$300.00 is a good deal even with issues, was curious how great of deal you got.

My project 89 Formula Bird I thought was a steal at $400.00, but yours could have been a much better deal, I am curious.

it had a blown 2.8, other than that i havent did a thing to the car, not hardly any rust on it, interior is worn out, but can be fixed at a pretty cheap cost.. i think i got a really awesome deal too, the headliner dont sag either... im still going through the electrical.. not everything works, but i think its because rust or corrusion is stoping it somewhere.. things are gradually working.. my headlights work now.. dunno why or how.. but they do...

the only real work ive done to it was wash it when i got it, cuz it hadnt been washed in years, and then did my v6 to v8 swap.. which im hoping to have running by next weekend.

                            I say great deal then.
For my next project I have to find a car with a blown engine, and a good body (Collecting too many 305s).

I have done that V6 to V8 conversion before, I definitely recommend it for anyone with a 2.8L.

Hope you get it running soon.

yeah, the V6 to V8 swap can be a little tricky if you dont know what your doing.. like me.. but all in all im pretty pleased with the way it is turning out.
