Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!
If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please contact us!
You know how when you are not in your best shape and "ugly" you dont want ppl to see you? Well thats the case with my 68 camaro "The Ugly Duckling". I will post pictures of her but as soon as the body work is done and new sheet metal is welded on etc. It will be two months tops. The Ugly Duckling is an appropriate name for her since she is starting out ugly but becoming sexy. Here is some pictures of her when I first bought her tho, a lot has changed since then. Just to provide you with a before and after picture.
ill probably be the only one to say it, but i love seeing cars like that. I mean, i dont like seeing them in bad shape, but I like seeing cars that look like they are a step back in time. Those wheels, bolt on steering wheel, and primer paint look like a step back into the late 70s/early 80s. Its almost like you can hear the disco music looking at it haha. Good look with the project, its cool to start out with a timepiece like that.
On a side note, what kind of wheels are those. I know they were REALLY popular back in the 70s. Theyre nothing special, but i think they look awesome dipped in chrome. (see the Ford Gran Torino from the new Starsky and Hutch movie). keeps the retro roughness but you still get bling
I'm not sure but I like them too. But I am debating to keep them of get some police style hubcaps. That might sound stupid to most of you but I love just the basic look and not showing, having a 68 camaro says enough to me. Like I dont want a glossy paint job either, I want to keep it all in black primer. I am a pretty simple guy. How many teenagers do you know want a american muscle car for the first car?????

Yeah! Go for it! I like flashy chrome wheels and all, but there are something about a understated car that I like a lot. As for having an american muscle car for your first car, I know I did (almost got a '68 Charger 440 R/T, should've bought it, now their value is through the roof).

Sounds like you want to keep the retro theme going. Honestly, if you wanna go primer black id have to say that sounds pretty sweet. Just make sure you fix the body right. If you like the wheels i say keep em. They are definitely a "throwback" wheel and i think they look good. Most people dont get understand the old school sleeper look anymore, so i dont really care for hubcaps in that respect. If I were doing something like that, id fix everything perfect, go primer black, and dip the wheels in chrome. a mint body and chromed wheels will indicate you intend ito to look that way a people will definitely appreciate it. Also definitely keep the jacked-up-in-the-back suspension rake. That was also popular back then, its not now.

Actually I love looking at cars. You see a car like Skar's 1st gen and think "Damn, that thing is beautiful!!" but you see something like this and look at it in a totally different way. You sit back and think of what its been through in its 38 years since built. I love going to the Junkyard and looking around in all the old cars and wondering what they've been through. There is a junkyard 10 min from my house that has about 20-25 50's/60's/early 70's cars in the back corner. I love to go searching in them to find some peice of history. There is a 1967 Camaro back there with the last plate on it from 1976. I talked to the guy at the front who's owned the junkyard since '75 and he said all those cars came in back in the 70's and have sat for 30 years now. He told me he doesn't have the heart to crush them like the new cars that come in.

Yeah definetly. No matter the condition there in there is always some amount of respect for them. As for the body work, i was sanding the trunk lid 10 min ago. I am in the sanding stage but I am buying 2 door shells, 2 80% quarters and both fenders and rockers. So about 70% of the metal is going to be new. Im excited everytime I think about it.
The wheels appear to be Ansen Sprints or something similar. American Racing has just re-released this style wheel so you'll probably see more cars with those wheels on them.

I like it a lot.
Flat black with dog dish hubcaps...oh yeah.
Question...looks like a 12 bolt rear end...was that a big block car? What's the data plate say?

I think it is because I take it in and out all the time, the rubber has just stretched out, especially at the bottom where it is really thin. It annoys me more then anything.
