  • There may be a Z in my future!

Not that kind of Z silly! LOL!

    This kind...

    http://videos.streetfire.net/hottest...1c9b9e6b76.htm

(I would like to make mine look like this one... minus the wing that is)

I'll be going to settle the deal sometime next week when the seller gets back from vacation.

Here is my future $120 project...

I know this thing looks like a piece now and maybe it is, but I will give it some TLC and see where it goes. Maybe after some patience and a lot of hard work and $$$ it will be something to take to shows. Oh and to make fun of ricers with!

She is in rough shape but she runs and drives. For the price I can't turn it down. 1979 Datsun 280ZX 5 speed manual trans with a straight six and ttops! Runs and Drives I can't wait to start cleaing this thing up!

If anything it will be a great car to learn on. Since I am not as much a gearhead as I would like yet. Also I am starting to learn to drive manual trans cars which will allow me to consider many other cars in the future. Also I figure with Nick owning one and his dad being well informed (owning several himself) I can learn alongside Nick about body work and paint.

Looks like the body panels will be cheap enough to buy new too!

    Here is Nicks...

(Notice the slope of the rear hatches. My car is a ZX 2+2 while Nick's is a 280Z 2 seater Also Nick's car is a 4 speed manual and mine will be a 5 speed)

Yes I am awake. I got off a 9 hour shift less than an hour ago and I am heading back to work for a 13+ hour shift in about 2.5 hours so I figured I would relax a bit and fill you guys in.

    Kind of Ironic...

This was one my favorite toys when I was a kid. I never realized it was a 280ZX!

Keep us posted on the project. looks like it's in fairly good shape for a 1979.
        Good luck on the resto!

My dad had a 240Z when I was a kid. I remember slamming my pinky in the door! I never cared much for the 260-280 cars. They changed just enough they don't look as nice as the 240's. It's one of the few foreign cars I would ever consider buying.

Yeah, the 240's were nice, but they are also rare. I paid $300 cash for my '78 280Z, and Ben is getting this 280ZX for $120, so I think we'll just have to settle. . . lol

Yeah, the pics at the end are of my car, it's in gray primer right now, but I'm looking for a decent dark blue color to shoot it with and throw some metal flake on it. Ben and I are also hoping to make custom sheet metal spoilers for both of the cars, so we'll definitely keep you posted if Ben gets this car.

Yeah I know. The deal went to crap anyway. When we saw the car in person it was a lot worse than the pictures let on so no Z for me. All the better to put $$$ into my bird right? Those Z cars are really nice though. Very very roomy! I was surprised, I am 5'11'' and I had leg room to spare! Much better than even our GMC Jimmy!

^I took him for a ride in my '78 280Z last night. . . He liked it. lol Let's just say I drove about as "spirited" as I could with a f***ed up fuel injection system . . . The Z was in horrible shape, the guy didn't tell us that there weren't any good body panels on the car, we expected it to be bad, but not that bad. Oh well, Ben now has a little extra $$$ to put into the 'bird.
