Love to do a 383. Here's the thing. My son is 16 and he doesn't have a crazy budget. Id prefer he stay with the 305 for now. If rather do that than try to piecemeal a 350 or 383 together.

Ill wait till he has the budget. And the brains.

build the one 305 for the replacement and use the other as a bonding project, nothing teaches a kid a working engine better than getting your hands greasy. teach him the right way though, way too many hackjob mecahnics in this world. gorgeous car. cant wait to see whats in its future.

Id love to put a 350 in it. Just isn't the right time. If we fix it now, he can drive to work when I'm on a different site and he can make more money.

if you change your mind im sure i could get you a 350 for the same price of a 305 if not cheaper.. i have a really good hook up at a junk yard my dads friend owns... they will give warranty's also

i know of a 350 tbi motor that needs head gaskets for 75 bucks if the guy still has it.

Very clean looking third gen! Looked at one identical to it for my first car, but ended up with a 4th gen instead!
