When i started driving guess was around 1.05-1.25 when i bought my truck in december of 03 everyone said "omg what are you going to do gas is going to be like 1.50 in the next year or two" What i would do to go back to giving the attendant 40 bucks filling up and going back in for change.

When I started driving was when gas first started going up. It had been .29 for a long time (except during the gas price wars of 1970 when it got down to .19) In 1974 when I graduated it hit .39 and has been climbing since. In 1975 was the first shortages(?) that drove the price up even more. Oh, yeah, back then you could still get Sunoco 260 leaded gas (probably equivalent to 110 octane now) at every Sunoco station.

I remember in my first grade class (1996 or 97) I wrote a paper on things i didn't like, and one of them was gas prices. I think they were around .97 a gallon... HA!... hindsight...

Man have times changed. Although if you're driving a cruz or something that gets 40 miles per gallon, half a gallon of gas would probably get you home still
