Never been a money pit until this year. I've had my sled since 2002 and never been more than plugs, oil, grease, and gas until that engine went. No surprise since it has well over 8,000mi.

My last sled was a '98 MachZ 800. bone stock it was a great sled for 8 years. once the crank seals went and it popped a motor, it couldn't stay together after that. those things have the crank pressed together around the seals, I got a '99 lower end from Jeff Urdone4 for and bought a '99 crank (they had a better crank seal design than the '98s) and sold that headache

Now if I go sledding I just borrow friends spares. Last time I went to the UP was a few winters ago a group of us left christmas night to ride for the weekend. ended up saving a ladies life when we rode from Rudyard back to Ignace for the night. She hit a tree (her and BF were drinking she was knocked out cold/coma) the entire 2 hours we were at the scene not one other person passed us and my phone was the only one that got service (A+ verizon!) My friends were bringing the paramedics from the highway a mile up the trail to the scene.

I jumped the Polaris ship after my 2009 Dragon spent more time back at the dealers then on the trails.
I bought a 2005 Arctic Cat F6 Black Widow edition. And I love it.

Sad to say I have ZERO miles on this year due to the lack of snow. So it's really good to see the pictures you posted up.
Sorry about all the troubles you had though. But looking back I'm sure it was a lot of fun despite all the problems.

We've never had any issues with our sleds. Maintenance goes a long way though. We go through them every year when they are put away and when we bring them out. Polaris sleds aren't the fastest but damn reliable and comfortable. I've ridden a lot of peoples arctic cats, yamahas, and ski doos and they all have their benifits. We've just had great luck with our sleds. Mine burnt up last year but its 11yr old and has 8,000mo+ on it. Arctic Cats engines are quick and the engines are always so crisp but it seems like 9 outta 10 times we are pulled off for a sled issue its an Arctic Cat.

Hell, we had 10 guys on this trip. 5 sleds broke down. 4 were A.C.! 2 of which weren't mine and I still broke them.

Jill and I use to love to ride the trails when the snow was there our favorite spot was Mio. You could go in any dir. then of to the air strips when someone thought they had a fast sled. Jill rode a 670 mxz me I rode mach z, 240 carbite studs hook and go. Got sick in 2002 been selling off my sleds one by one had 6 sleds 2- trail 4 racers only one left 800 tripple mach z set as a improved drag racer. Have fun on the sleds we really miss the sport.
