I was planning on using some of that plasti-dip stuff to paint the chrome bezels, that way if I change my mind I can just peel the plastidip off.

Ive got a sweet weller digital one at work that I use for AC jacks, power buttons etc. But I had no idea those were so expensive. Ill be a little more careful with that thing from now on, lol.

I posted in their camaro5.com thread - there's no way in hell I can justify $340 for a plastic tube and a cone filter. That intake shouldn't be more than $150-$200 IMHO. It's ridiculous that so many people bend over and pay those prices...

lol yea cold air intakes seem to always be way overpriced. I just like the oem look the roto-fab intake brings with the paint to match option. The vararam intakes put up the best power numbers though

Two new mods to the car. Just in time before the snow started falling, my WeatherTech molded floor mats arrived. I had these floor mats on my Trailblazer and absolutely loved being able to get in without worrying about tracking snow/mud/dirt into the car and since this car is going to be my year round daily driver, it needed it too.

And this one should be obvious. I went with 20% on the rear windshield and "rear windows" (the little triangles) and then 35% on the doors. Again, this is a daily driver. When I had Red Alert tinted with limo on the back and 35% on the sides, it only lasted one month before I got a fix-it ticket so I'm just hoping this job will last longer.

And last but not least (for a couple weeks at least ) - installed my RX Catch Can today. Absolutely necessary with these oil drinking V6 engines.

The LLT and LSx engines are notorious for having a crappy PCV system. I've heard some rumors that it might be part of the reason GM switched to the LFX engine in 2012. There's a plastic tube that goes from the passenger valve cover and runs to the intake manifold. Since the PCV system sucks, instead of it only being air that's getting recycled into the intake manifold, it ends up sucking oil in as well.

On direct injection engines, it's HORRIBLE because the fuel is put directly into the combustion chamber instead of the air tract thus oil moving through the intake manifold can deposit on the top of the valves and deposit and doesn't have the traditional fuel to help clean off the deposits.

The catch can runs inbetween the passenger valve cover and the intake manifold and is designed that the air (and any oil) gets sucked into the catch can, goes through a few filters and also condenses any oil and water, only allowing pure air back into the manifold. Helps keep the intake manifold clean and oil free.

According to GM's own documentation, it's considered "NORMAL" for LLT and LSx engines to "drink" 1qt of oil per 2,000 miles and if you drive aggressively, they say it could drink 1qt every 500 miles. That's considered "NORMAL."

Didn't take any pictures but I swapped my transmission fluid and differential fluid in the 2012 today. It's the first time I've ever done a differential or transmission fluid change before. Was pretty straight forward - both had fill and drain plugs so it was easy. What made it especially easier is the trans and diff took the same fluid - I put Royal Purple 75w-90 in. Should be good for awhile now.

Most people report a real improvement in the transmission for shifting and while it DID seem really smooth and easier than normal, I am hesitant to attribute it to the fluid change -- don't want to just be psyching myself out. We'll see how it feels the rest of the weekend.
