Well, it all started when my 16 year old son wanted to buy his own first car. He bought a 2000 Camaro 3.8 which was perfect for his first ride. He had sold it about six months later under the presumption of eventually buying another, but this time a LS1. Maybe the "family project" had something to do with his decision?

Last week, this now17 year old "kid" had found his "dream car" a 2000 Camaro SS, black, convertible, 6 speed, with an awesome price! He wanted to buy it badly (his own dough), the only problem is that it is located in Long Island, NY. Well I couldn't talk him out of it so we negotiated a price and I was in contact with the buyer multiple times and he had assured me that we would not be disappointed. (I heard that before!)
He stated the the car was his baby but he did not need a car anymore because he was moving to Manhattan.
According to Mapquest, the trip would take 11hours to get there. I didn't want to fly out there because if the damn thing was just a bucket of bolts, then how do we get back.

We had left midnight Friday and arrived at the sellers house about 11:30am Saturday. We we turned on the street, the SS was sitting in the driveway and at that point we had realized then that this trip was worth it!

This seller and his family were awesome!! They wanted to make us a lunch for driving all the way out there. We had graciously denied but they had still invited us in for some conversation about all sorts of stuff. His Dad even admitted that they had recieved an offer for more after our offer but felt inclined to honor our agreement. It was such a pleasure meeting and dealing with an upstanding and honorable family as they are.

Unfortunately, we had to head back because Conrad had to go into work on Sunday at 2pm. I wanted to go to Manhattan to see the World Trade Center area. So we headed there about 2pm and the roads were packed and it was only Saturday! We got to the site about 3pm and the place was packed and parking anywhere nearby was $40 a car. Well, needles to say we just drove by, looked, stopped nearby for a photo and kept on going because it was getting late and we still had to drive home.
Crossing the river, we finally got out of New Jersey about 4pm and hit the road hard stopping a few times to stretch and eat.

Conrad was so fired-up about his new ride that he wasn't at all that tired when we finally arrived home at 2:45am Sunday unlike the ol' man! Youth prevails!
