More, just not on the top of my head.
I do catch where you guys are all coming from.
I just hate it when Honda kids bash on V8's even though they've never touched one/ridden/driven one. And vice versa.
It's like saying you hate the taste of fish when you've never had fish........

There will never be a time where we (domestics, imports) all hold hands and sing a happy song. This is MI. HOME of American Muscle. Are we biased? Sure. Do we bash? Yes here and there. But when your born and raised..and here stories from your elders about GM,FORD,MOPAR during the 50's,60,70's etc etc. You support the Big 3, and stick with them. Because IMO.. They brought us this great hobby which we've all come to love.
Which is why you wont find Antonio playing with no import car
. I think his hands would burn if he was to touch one

I rode in my friend's turbo LS CRX and it didn't feel that quick, however it did beat all of my other friend's cars here at school.Originally posted by CHZBRGR View PostI just hate it when Honda kids bash on V8's even though they've never touched one/ridden/driven one. And vice versa.

Pretty sure street racing was BORN in detroit. So we can end that debate about street racing here now kthx.

Everyone loves their dig races around here but I don't care if its "gaaaay!!" I'd MUCH rather see two supercars square up from a 100 roll. Thats what i call exciting.
I also dont get this legend everyone seems to believe about muscle cars going from a dig. The fast cars in the 70s went from a roll on 696. Unless you had a tub and slicks back then good luck launching on the "street" tires of that era! The best tires back then wouldnt compare to the bottom shelfers of today. Let alone the leaf-spring truck suspension you were working with!Last edited by JoeliusZ28; October 9th, 2010, 01:28 AM.-Joel

look on Motown Joel all the old time street racing vids on there are races from a dig. Moran racing back in the day always did it from a dig. Making your car hook does compromise other aspects though I can't argue with that.Doing less with more

(sigh)...not even sure where to start with this one.Originally posted by JoeliusZ28 View PostI also dont get this legend everyone seems to believe about muscle cars going from a dig. First, it's not a legend...as somebody who really did grow up in the 70s and do his fair share of racing in the 80s, I can tell you that the majority of racing was done from a dig. Cars were purpose-built for it.
Second, don't compare the technology of the different eras...everyone had the same tires and suspension at that time...they all had the same challenges.
Third...Woodward Avenue...I'll leave it there...
Fourth, go back to any period magazine (or better yet, pick up a copy of Joe Oldham's Muscle Car Confidential: Confessions of a Muscle Car Test Driver) and look at what the priorities of the time were.
The dragstrip. Trap speeds.
The first thing a journalist did when he picked up a new muscle car, was to take it to the strip...the second thing he did was drive it to the local cruise joint to look for some action...all from a dig.
Did roll racing happen?
You bet.
But the "muscle car" was all developed around the dig.
And they still are today.
What do we look at now?
Zero to 60 times.
Quarter mile times.
Many times, they don't even advertise or publicize what the 60-100 time is.
It's not a legend...it's fact.
Frankly, I can't remember roll racing becoming as popular as racing from a dig until the mid-1990s...I do remember stopping in the middle of the highway, lining up, and have somebody start us though...

All of you guys who say "we Michigan people have more sense and are smarter not to street race..." blah bah blah are plain ignorant! It happens! Face it! It happens in your State omg lets move now! Jesus Christ guys this thread is way outta hand with opinions that don't even matter! Just because they street race by far does not make them stupid, reckless yes! But I can tell you a time of almost everyone of you in this THREAD have been reckless and many of you have posted it on the internets!
Nice Videos guys, i'd love to say keep posting them but looks like some of these guys might just ***** to much and you'll just leave the site.sigpic

roll racing
You guys really think that streetracing doesnt happen in MI? What...
Go join MotownMuscle.com so you are then allowed to view the grudge racing section. Or even better yet, come out to no e.t. at Milan on oct. 16th
Street racing in MI is REAL, the serious guys who do it; get it scheduled, get it done, collect money and go home.
Here its not about posting a video about it online or making a thread about the details and excuses of everything. If you lose, well you just lost some money too. There is usually not a big "crowd" to watch either. If you are meant to be there, you will be there.

Wasn't there a accident downriver, maybe 5 years ago, where there was a huge crowd and a Mustang (I think) lost control, ran a couple people over and hit a pole? Driver ran off?Originally posted by ThreeHonks View PostHere its not about posting a video about it online or making a thread about the details and excuses of everything.
