My 2002 Vert Gets an SS Hood

This is a mod I've been wanting for a long time. I've been through two different hoods, and dragged a cast of thousands into this project, but now it's finally done, thanks to Brian and Matt at MasterWorks.

A decision on stripes will come later -- probably much later at this rate. Long-term dream is to recreate a 2002 RS vert as SLP would have done it. The stripes I get would no doubt be a lot like the SLP RS stripes, only with allowances for the SS hood.

Next project to help the car's breathing is to install the SLP dual-dual system. Stay tuned, there'll be more to come!

Yes, I bought a red one from a lapsed MiFBody guy in St. Clair Shores, but it needed to to be resprayed on the exterior surface due to stone chips and keying and egg damage. Hope to have the car cleaned up to show off at Woodward this Friday!

Looks like it came out good man! When you do stripes look up 3rdgendecals, just google it, they have every factory stripe ever put on an fbody, all years, plus a bunch of custom stuff like side flags and hockey sticks.

Yep -- the one I bought in Indy was damaged and would have cost me a sh*tload to refinish. I found a red hood off a 2001 SS in St. Clair Shores where the guy was going to go with a cowl hood, so all I had to do was have the exterior repainted to bring it up to snuff. The Indy hood is in the MiFBody ads, and is clearly stated as having damage. Tell your friends that if they have a few bodywork skills with SMC, they can have a nice authentic SS hood for pretty cheap!
