You guys are going to laugh, my favorite car ever is the 2002 Trans Am ws6 in that really cool orange-ish red color =)
I also really Like the triple white 1997 Camaro SS
haha, that ws6 is my wallpaper at work. I love that picture. Can't beat SOM on a bright sunny day. When its not super sunny I prefer red though I'd have to agree with you, I think the 1998-02 ws6 is probably my favorite car ever. Thankfully I was blessed to have made enough money to buy one at 18. Second place is probably the 67-68 bird style like your dads, I just love those.

Oh yeah I like 1968 birds and camaros a lot too, but we have one of each, so the cool factors worn off a little.
I want to get a ws6 as a fun car, bolt ons only, then make the camaro a drag car =)
            Minus the v6 of course

This car ran 10's from the factory in street trim? I can't recall any factory musclecars running 10's in street trim(from the 60/70 era). Wouldn't be the first time I was wrong though..

My dad said his 1978 and 1977 trans ams were pigs, one with the 400 and one with the 455, he said both would roast the tires off but thats about it.

An interesting debate...put old muscle cars on new radial tires and things completely change.

That aside, and tires common across the board, there would be a number of old school muscle cars that easily dip into the 12s.

The Chrysler Hemis, Ford AC Cobras (OK..they might have been 12s on bias ply tires), Daytonas, and any number of Corvettes would easily qualify in the 12s. But old school F-bodies are a much shorter list.

The COPOs for sure...maybe the Super Dutys...but everything else is open for debate.

The "quickest" factory F-body made was the 89 TTA...although the big 4th gens are right there (if not faster, depending on the source) in the quarter mile.

While the fastest factory F-body will always be in debate, a safe number is 12.8-13.0 in the quarter as the fastest number.

In fact, the only possible "factory" car I can come up with that may have run 10s (with modern tires and a helluva driver) is a 68 Hemi Dart.
