    Hell Yes, we're excited!
Sue had wanted a new Camaro badly since we got to see a few up close and personal at the Meet 'n' Greet at Baker's this past summer. We didn't really pursue it seriously. I just started to casually look in September, but didn't think it would come to pass... BUT it has!
Aqua Blue Metallic/ White Hood & Hockey Stripes. 2SS/RS, Ground Effects, 6-speed, Grey Leather. Just built last week!! We got to see it today, but stripes don't go on until Wednesday. So I'll pick it up Thursday.
If there's a downside, it's that our situation is such that it will have to be a daily driver, the deal and trade-in deal was too advantageous to pass on. Also, the Hawk and the 409 get the garage- thinking about storing one of them somewhere else, but I don't know where yet.
Question 1: Anything any of you that have to drive your baby in winter do to keep it clean and lovely? (I mean aside from the obvious)
Question 2: No, I don't know everything about the Camaro yet; do these cars have that ridiculous skip shift? I put a skip shift eliminator on the Hawk, but I don't think SLP still sells them- any ideas?
Can't wait to show the new Cam' off when we can get together again!

    Regards to all,

    Dave Harvey

Congrats Dave, make sure you post some pics when you get it home. As for winter driving the best I can say is keep it clean (I know that was the obivious..LOL).

If I recall correctly, he goes to a soft cloth car wash with an underbody spray.

                  Congrats on the new Camaro!

                    Congrats on the new purchase!

Yes, the six speed Tremec TR6060 (which is what you have) has skip shift. There are eliminators available. If you want to learn as much as you can about the car, start doing some reading over on www.camaro5.com. Not that this site isn't great, just that every site has its own niche. And that is the best current site for info on the new Camaros.

Also feel free to PM me any questions you might have about the car

Thanks!! I meant to start a new thread

                      Hey There!,

Thanks y'all. I really don't know how I entered this as a reply. I meant to start a new thread.

At any rate, yes I will wash like fiend through the winter, and have a good place when I need to go to a car wash. I'm not sure I like the idea of spraying oil or grease on the underbody; what kind of shmutz could get gummed up with that under there?

I did find a skip shift eliminator on the SLPOnline site. That's worked dandy on the Firehawk since 02, so I think I'll go ahead with it. I have briefly checked out Camaro5.com and will again. Thanks.

Yeah, I sort of knew Aqua-Blue Metallic was the right color right away. My foster brother's older brother had a 69 SS/RS with that silvery blue/white stripe combo and I've loved it since then. Suzy would have been happy with Yellow/Black (Brent loves the Transformers), but we were also sort of taken with the metallic gray/silver stripe combo too. Once I saw an Aqua one down at the Plymouth dealership in late September-that wrapped it up.

Anyway-thanks for all the info! Yes! I'll get pictures up as soon as I can.

                      Dave

I will certainly do so. Any particular foibles or problems you've had with the car? Any trouble with visibility and the "gun slit" windows?

I would look at getting snow tires and maybe plain rims for the winter Dave. The rubber on snow tires stay pliable in cold, even better than "all weather" tires. Have Sue practice on taking off in 2nd and 3rd gear. when in snow you don't want to slip the tires and you have a lot of power. I drove my formula last winter and had no problems, you just can not jack rabbit start.

When I got my truck new in 2001 I painted everything that was not painted at the factory. I also had the truck and underbody washed once a week in the winter. Still did not help, both the rear wheel wells rusted out. My truck never got undercoated. I get all my vehicles undercoated now!
