  • New Trailblazer Mods

There were three things the Jimmy had that I really missed when I got the new Trailblazer - 1) Outside temperature 2) Compass and 3) Heated side mirrors

Well, I already had replaced the rear view mirror to one that has both 1 and 2, and today I took care of #3.

It's AMAZING how easy it is to take apart this car compared to the Camaro. Door panel comes off really easily, mirror comes out with no issues. And the most amazing part - the whole 5 bolts that I had to undo to get the door panel off (2 bolts) and the mirror (3 nuts)... they were all 10mm. I was shocked - I expected to have one bolt be a standard size, one bolt a metric, and at least 3 different sizes... GM's made a lot of progress, just wish all the anti-Domestic vehicle people could see it.

    Anyway - here's some pics

And a couple pics of dad's car while I was taking some shots...

How do they work? Do they just come on when you turn on the rear defrost or did you have to mod the dash as well?

The mirrors defrost with the rear defroster and the amber lense lights up with the turn signals. The other amazing part about the mods that I've done on the Trailblazer is that the harness is 100% there - it's all plug and play. The rear mirror that came with my car was just a standard rear mirror with no bells and whistles but the rear mirror that I bought with the compass and temperature just plugs right in just the same, no wiring. Same with the side mirrors - unplug everything from the switch plate, remove the door panel, pop the side mirror out, put the new side mirror in, put the door panel back on, and plug the new harness into the switch plate.. done.

Yeah it is - when I got the Trailblazer in February the heated mirrors were $300+ for a pair.

Damn straight! No, it's honestly just because of parking order - if I'm not driving the Camaro, then it makes no sense to leave it parked infront of the Firebird and blocking his access out of the garage.
