Started some maintenance work on the LT5; fuel injectors (16), coils, wires, plugs, starter....so on. Thought you guys might be interested in seeing some pictures since the LT5 is really a TPI at heart.

Design was based on need. The fuel injector technology in the 80's could not support both good idle and part throttle quality in addition to 7000RPM and 375hp. The design used small injectors for good fuel spray/control at idle then used the additional injectors when more fuel was needed. The "Power Key" shown below was a cool way to control the use of either 8 injectors - "Normal Power" or all 16 injectors - "Full Power". Under normal use, the motor ran on 8 Primary injectors until 3000RPM when the second 8 kicked in. I've added some new parts: White fiberglass hardtop which IMHO looks 10x better than the acrylic top. Have a couple sets of 93' Sawblade Wheels (one year only design) and coming soon CCW Classic 17x11 and 17x12 with black centers. The Corsa Exhaust is a remarkable product as well.Comment

Jeal billets are soft as butter just beneath the surface, in the 30 rockwell range. The heat treatment just wasn't done correctly and the top hard layer is very very thin. Stock lifters are 62 or so. What eventually happens is the cam lobes scalop the lifters and everything goes to crap. I'm glad I caught it before damage was done.Originally posted by meissen View PostComment
