  • Little help guys....

So I went and checked out this car today because I figured it would be cheap. Noticed that it had full leather and disc brakes on the rear.

Did RS cars come with disc brakes in the rear?

He wants $2500 and it doesnt always shift into 4th Has just under 80k on it, so the odo says.

Is it possible to look up in the GM computer system on what the car came with and the year off the vin? Not a carfax because I know we cant ask for that. I dont want to piss anyone off.

wouldnt that be the Y87 performance package?

    I think the 96-97 Y87's came with:

4-wheel disc brakes,3:42 posi, and dual exhaust

but didnt come with GFX? Those were on the sports package?

IDK I could be way way wrong. Alcohol is buzzing through my body

right, rear disc brakes = Y87 which means it has a posi too. basically its all the V8 gear on a V6.

He's way high on the price looking at the paint around the gas cap and the spoiler. maybe if it was clean.

I noticed that the car had dual exhaust as well when I looked at it.

yep y87 has the dual outlet muffler.

RS is the appearance package (GFX) which would be ordered seperately. Looks like a pretty loaded 96 to me.

Looks like the car has the special diagonal license plate mounting place as well.

Slotted disk as well. IMO $2500 don't seem too bad.

2800 can get you a V8 that doesnt have rust or faded paint...

If it not shifting into 4th all the time the trans is prob on it way out so you you may have to replace the it for me even if you do the work youself you would still prob be ahead by just spending the extra cash on a clean car Imho

Ya I dont have any intention of getting it, just had to check it out. Not too many fbodys in my area. I had just not seen rear disc brakes on a v6.
