I like this one to bad its not a little lighter to get more of the cars outline.

Well, I took more like that that I lightened up, but then the effect of the clouds went away.

Here Kyle... I took a crack at it with Picasa by upping the fill lighting without touching the highlighting. Maybe better? It did pick up a bit of noise though, I really don't like noise. But this is not too bad.

Damn, too bad it picked up that noise into the picture, what you did was exactly what I was trying to achieve! I just couldn't quite get it. I'm sure that someone that is better with the settings could have done it, but not me. Also, I checked Larry, and I don't have any sort of picture quality settings or anything like that on this camera. Only thing that I have is the MP setting. I don't know if they just don't pop all that well cause of the very low light or what.

If you are using a DSLR I would highly suggest a Circular Polizer filter. Also, If shooting in darker settings, switch over to the Aperature Priorty setting and play with it a bit. Also, consider leaving the shutter open longer while on the tripod. Do you have access to a remote for your camera? If you have any other photo questions please ask. I get butterflies in my stomache when it comes to Fbodies and Photography.

If you can get access to photoshop, you may choose to bracket your photos by laying on photo over another the other while increasing the transparency. This may allow you to keep the details and the color saturation while removing noise and sharpening the details all the same time. Damn I need photoshop...

No dslr, I'm using the Kodak that Nick sold to me. So I am very limited on the settings that I can adjust. In complete Manual mode I have acess to three settings. The ISO, the fstop number, and another that looks like it is measure in inches. I play with all these, and they adjust another number to help you dial in the camera. Seems like the lower the ISO works best in low light? I thought that the higher ISO worked best in low light? And do you know what the number measured in inches is? I can adjust from 8" all the way down to 1/1000. Thanks Ben!!

The pics look great with the cloud formations. Really cool perspective. But like Larry said, for some reason they just don't pop. Maybe the camera or megapixel used???

you would defintely benifit from a better camera, we use to have a 5mp kodak easyshare and it did not take nearly as good of pictures as my new 8.2mp easyshare or my moms nikon. but i think if you mess with the settings and lighting conditions enough you can still get a good picture, good luck with the assignment

Thanks, 10 mp.. The 1st 4 pics were shot with my DSLR, the mountain shot was with a 5 MP PnS. 5 MP is plenty to take pics with unless you want to print 20x30 pics.. It just all depends on where your settings are. ISO, 100 is bright light, 1600 is lowest light. Most cameras default to 400..

The " symbol is exposure if I remember right, the number determines how long the shutter stays open.

You don't need Photoshop to make a good pic. I have photoshop but am too dumb to use it..lol All my pictures are as shot.. Like I said earlier, shoot and shoot some more.. It's all about practice and experience and I am by no means an expert. I just try to envision the shot before I shoot it and am always looking for something to take pics of.. Good luck!
