Hi Brian,
So, you plan to add the air cleaner with the hood seal to the Chevelle, any other plans? Looks like you have 15X8 Corvette Rally Wheels on there now with '67 center caps. Any plans for the original "Chevelle/Camaro Z28" wheels or mags?
I always thought you made a good choice going with a blue Chevelle. The more common red ones are very cool, but there seems to be so many around, that a blue one is a nice change.

Hi Doug. Yeah, I definitely don't miss that weather, but I miss you guys.
Since the first picture I saw of a Fathom Blue/white stripe Chevelle I knew that's what I had to have. I've just never been a red car guy myself but they do look nice too.

I like a lot of cars modified, but these cars I just love how they look stock, so I'm continually working towards getting it more "correct" but not to a crazy NOS degree. With a few exceptions possibly being headers, suspension and wheels.
As far as other plans for it/to do list;
replace brake booster and leaky master cylinder, get cowl ind. functioning, hook up trans kickdown, other misc. small mechanical things, gradually replace lots of warn small pieces here and there. I would like to upgrade the suspension with a few aftermarket parts to make it handle a little better, but nothing too far from stock.
The other thing I'd like to do way down the road is more engine mods to make it a little meaner. The motor is a stock late '80s low compression truck motor w/only an Edlebrock manifold & Holley 750 carb. Also way down the road I'd like to make it a 4-speed and change the interior to Ivory (pearl white.)

As for the wheels, you're correct, 15x8 w/'67 centercaps currently which is the way I bought it. I've just left them because I can't decide what to do. I like the original '70 5-spoke wheel better than what I have now, but I'd really like to have that style in a 16" or 17" wheel for a subtle change. Wheel Vintiques has some billet ones but are waaaaay too expensive. American Racing is supposed to come out with some, but I heard they are having difficulty manufacturing them. My Brother in law picked up a 70 Chevelle SS 454 last year (7 months ago)
1970 seems to be the prime year for the chevelle.

LOL....I'm not going to tell you what he paid for it, because it will make you cry. Needless to say its got 32,000 miles on it. But it's been sitting for 15 years. In a garage. And just as solid as it drove off the line.

It was repainted, and they used to race the 1/4 mile with it.
Bryan's has put the mirrors, wheel well chrome, locks, ect back on the car.
He plans on repainting it the stock red/black.

But they are worth a pretty penny done back to stock.

Best of luck getting yours where you want it. That's the fun of an older car.
And I agree, just driving the car is awsome, it looks tough enough stock!

Thank you!!! im getting so sick of muscle cars being put back to NOS correct because they have more value that way. Muscle cars were meant to be enjoyed, and therefore modified also. People remember them because of what they were capable of at the track, not under the shade tree or the car cover in the garage. My uncle always laughs when he gets marked down for headers. And i agree with what he says "being a show car is the secondary function of this car, not the primary."

Beautiful car. The 454 chevelle is a very close 2nd favorite of mine (to the 69 camaro).

Nice Looking car. My first car ever at age 15 was a 70 Chevelle SS 396 350 horse auto with 3.31 12 bolt. It's still in my family. My cousin has it now and is putting a 502 in it.

Thanks Joel, but it's a Type LT/Z28, not just a Type LT.

Yup, my oldest Camaro is the most modified. The IROC-Z is pretty stock, with a couple bolt-ons (SLP Y-pipe & Cat-back probably the biggest change, and the stereo). The SS was pretty stock with only Eibach springs, and skip shift eliminator. The Hot Rod Edition is still "as delivered" but that's modified some, right from the get-go.

I appreciate both camps, modified and concours stock. I think there's a place for both schools of thought in our hobby.

i like the 1970 454 ss. but my favorite chevelle is the 1969 396/4 speed ss edition.

my dad was lucky when he was 17 and own 2 differnt chevelle's. and he said no one ever left a car stock. it was all about headers, bigger carbs, bigger cams. and run them till they blew. then get a junkyard motor.

Chevelle's hold a special place in Chevrolet history. There have been several "iconic" models through the years. The '65 Z-16 396 is very rare, and was the first "muscle" Chevelle, while the '66 SS396 was the first "superstar" Chevelle. Heck, there were even songs written about the '66 SS396!

The '69 Chevelle SS396 is a high point, but the '70 SS454 is probably the most iconic Chevelle of all. It's the "muscle car of muscle cars" and argubly the best looking Chevelle of all.

for me i see a muscle car with headers, carb, cam, and all that jazz is more of a "time machine" than a stock one. (Obviously that excludes people that update to EFI and big wheels/suspension.) Barrett Jackson has brought an abundance of the NOS level cars around. so yes, i agree with you doug it is also nice to see the manufacturer history too.
