The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. I'm with Gary on this one!! You see Verdoro Green and Midnight Green, but how often do you see Limelight Green?? By bringing the car back to original it would stand out more than a cloned TA!!
It's gonna stand out, regardless of which way he goes...for completely different reasons though...lol...
Couldn't find a Firebird in Limelight Green, but here's a GTO...now just imagine a green vinyl top...

Hes already desided to wait till next year to paint it anyway. Hes going to try to fix what he can on the car, and drive it this year.
I'm still trying to get him to bring it to the meet and greet. But he doesnt really like the body work that was done to the car. So hes a little shy to want to show it off. It looks great from 10-15 feet away.
LOL....if he brings it you all can tell him to paint it Green. LOL!!

I think that should say NOR, for Norwood, Ohio assembly plant. That's where the Camaros & Firebirds were built. Or if it says LOS it would be Los Angeles (Van Nyes) assembly plant, the other F-body assembly plant.

Actually, for the 67-69 Firebirds, they did get built at the Lordstown, Ohio plant...LOR would be the correct designation. But, yes, Norwood and Van Nuys were the main facilities.
As a side note, no Firebirds were produced at the Van Nuys facility from 72 through 77.

Thanks for the info Jeff. In the 32 years I've been involved with the Camaro Club and my years of being a Chevy nut before that, I have never heard of Firebirds being built at Lordstown. Just goes to show you that you can learn something new every day.
I've even got documentation from Norwood from 1967 and the start of production for Camaros and Firebirds. Do you know what percentage of 1st Gen Firebirds were built at Lordstown, compared to the other two assembly plants?
I was luck enough to tour the Norwood assembly plant twice. Once in '85-86 (don't remember the exact date) and again in 1987, just a couple of weeks before they shut the plant down. Very interesting.

After some brief investigation, it appears that the Lordstown plant held the lion's share of the first gen Firebird production.
As you know, the Firebird started production after the Camaro in January, 1967.
From January, 1967 through the lengthened 1969 model year, there were 276,413 Firebirds built.
Of that, Lordstown appears to have built 220,230 of them.
Interestingly, the 69 Trans Ams were only built in Norwood or Van Nuys.
In my brief little investigation, I could not find the production split between Norwood and Van Nuys.

You've been misinformed. I had the pleasure to tour the Norwood assembly plant in Ohio a couple of times before they shut it down in 1987. My suspicions were confirmed. When they hired a new employee, they let them practice putting Firebirds together, and once they got it right, then they were allowed to build Camaros.
Doug- Lordstown is where they let the new workers pratice on Caprices, Impalas, and Bel Airs before they could build Firebirds!!!...LOL

Well, if people remember in a few posts back, my brother in law had a buddy re-do a 69 firebird vert. Into a Trans Am clone.
They took it to an auction today in Detroit. It brought $36,000.
So.....clones aren't that bad!!! LOL!!!!
that color on that GTO a few posts earlier is the same as what mine is. I get a lot of compliments on it. It also has a black vert top and black leather interior.
