    There used to be...I think there still is...supply the VIN to the DMV and they can go back 10 years on previous owners...

      thats the problem he doesnt have the vin or he would have probably tried to track it down a while ago, gosh I wish he never sold it, but selling it to get the shop was definately the right choice at the time everytime I look at pics of his car it just makes me mad how sweet it was and how cool it would be to track it down, HOPEFULLY still in the shape he left it.
