Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!
If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please contact us!
Here are some pics frome the show and a link to the them. It was about 85 that day. Hot! Dick Lahaie was there too! For those who dont know him he is a famouse drag racing crew chief. Top Fuel cars like Larry Dixon. Fun day!
I guess we were there a week too early! Dennis loves to eat at that 50's Denny's diner right down the street! It was nice to be back there, quite a few changes since 2002 in and around the Ft. Meyers/Cape Coral area!

Wow, nice cars at that show. One in particular brought back an old memory.
So here's a story for ya .............
It was the spring of 1974, I was newly married and was driving a Vega GT. Well, I was interested in something with a little more muscle and ran across a 1970 Trans Am. It had a built 455 and was pretty hot. So, I took it home to show the wife and we went for a test drive. Well, I turn onto a side street an put it right to the floor. The T/A fishtailed and laid rubber for about half a block and had us up to about 70 in nothing flat. Well, it scared the wife so bad she said, "You ARE NOT buying this car" !!!!
(I wonder why she's my EX-wife ????????)
Well, a week or so later I ran across a red '74 Camaro on one local Chevy dealer's lot (not Berger) and fell in love. I wanted a few more options than the one on the lot (it was not a Z28) and ordered a new red Z28.
A couple of weeks later, my salesman called and said my new Z28 would not be built (it was July of '74 and time for change over to the '75's). But, they found a Midnight Blue Met. Type LT/Z28 on another dealers lot out of state and did a dealer trade. That's how I ended up with the Camaro (now known as Project DZ74) and that's the Camaro I had when the Western Michigan Camaro Club was formed. The rest is History, as they say.
Imagine how different things might have turned out if I had bought that Trans Am ??????????????

One of the cars in the pics is a '73 LT/RS Z28 and it is midnight blue metallic. It belongs to my friend. He found it out west a few years ago and paid just over 20K. It has ALL the original paperwork and about 50K very clean miles. This car is rare he said because of the LT/RS Z28 options all added to the car.
Mike, where is this place at? It looks so familiar!
My favorites:
Its on the curves on Gladiolus, its next to a mini-golf place (pirates cove) when you go a little further you turn left towards the beach. They have canoe and kyak rentals and a mini train ride.
You pics didt post?

Mike, that's a great looking Camaro, and of course, I'm pretty partial to Midnight Blue Met. paint. However, I can tell from the picture it's not "stock" or "as delivered". Yes, the Z28/LT/RS all together is pretty rare, however, in 1973, Type LT was the dominate option, even with a Z28. It would have come from the factory with Camaro 350 on the fenders (where the Z28 emblems are now) and would not have had Z28 stripes. Of course, you can not tell that from the paper work. You just have to be old enough to remember how they were built in 1973. There is a lengthy discussion on this topic on NastyZ28.com, the 2nd Gen board.
I have a friend that bought a red one like this new with the same three options together. He has since had it repainted with Z28 stripes and Z28 emblems too. They changed the way these options worked together for 1974, and if you got Type LT and Z28 (RS was dropped for 1974) the Z28 stuff was dominate. Mine has Z28 on the fenders, and Type LT on the sail panels and rear tail light panel.
Still a great car!

Oh yeah! That's why! We go to Pirates Cove every time we go to Florida... the alligators they have there are awesome, plus it's a fun little course. The only bad part is those damn no-see-ums or whatever people call them... the little tiny fleas or bugs or something that bite the CRAP out of you.
Guess the pics I tried linking to wouldn't work. Yours, the baby blue 2nd gen, and the Yenko 1st gen were my favorites.

I looked at MadMikes Z28 pages and it also said that the LT was the top of the line but it didnt have any pics of what it would look like with the Z28 or RS options. That is interesting, I dont think I will tell him. I will let him hear it from someone else...
Probably a good idea, Mike, if he does not already know. I would look like a regular Type LT, with the 15" Z wheels. And in his case, it would have an RS front end, too. It would say Z28 only on the cowl trim tag. No Z28 identification badging on the exterior.
With a closer inspection, a savy Camaro guy would notice the wheels, springs, dual exhaust, and it the hood was open, the open element chrome topped air cleaner, and aluminum finned valve covers.

I try to be that "savy" guy. I try to suck up as much Camaro knowledged as possible. I went to "nasty" and got some more info on it. Some one was kind enough to link a old Car & Driver article...
boy did we get off track...
Hope everyone liked the cars pictures!
Ya, we did get off track a little, Mike. Sorry for hi-jacking the thread. I've been a certified car nut since before the 1st Gens came out and involved with the Camaro Club for 33 years (in April). Been to hundreds of cars shows, and have been a judge many times. It's to the point that I just "see" things, and when you mentioned about the Paper Work, I just had to say something.
And, YES I did enjoy the photos a bunch. I'm waiting for our snow (ya I know ) to go away so we can get our Camaros out again and enjoy some nice weather, too.
