The LT1 purple is a lighter shade and I think was called Hawaiian Orchid, or at least that's the Chevy color. My dad had a 92 Cavalier that color. I prefer the bright purple metallic though. I saw a Firebird vert that color this summer while at a car show over near Holland. It wasn't in the show but drove by. I had seen a purple Z28 a few years ago on the way home from Superfest but it wasn't there. It was an older woman driving it. I wanted to pull her over and buy it!

the LS1 purple does look really good. I used to work with someone (well kinda) that had a v6 camaro that color... it wasnt taken care of though, rear quarters were banged up pretty good, and that was back in 04.-Joel

Wow. forgot about this thread so here is some responses...
Yes, purple would have to be up there in favorite of colors.. ecspecially on cars.Originally posted by GETGONE View PostPURPLE KICKS ASS!!! It's one of the colors I'm considering if I repaint my SS. I painted my 86 S10 GM Radar Purple. That's a badass color that changed from blue to purple depending on the light.

Yes, its called Hawaiian Orchid Metallic. Your dad didn't have a '92 Cavalier that was purple. The ONLY year for Purple in 1st and 2nd gen was '94 which is what I have. The only possible way is if it was repainted. There is a few Purple Camaros around here. My dads good friend has a 93-97 Camaro that is purple its bad ass. He had it repainted the same color and had flakes put in the paint, and like 4-5 coats of clear, tons of different bullshit in 24k gold on it. He spent like $15,000 just in painting, and some of the mods hes done to it (no motor mods suspension just painting, neons, etc all appearnce, stock interior..). Its garage kept year round. He takes it out of the garage maybe 1 time a year, and I havent seen it leave in like 4-5 years though. Im going to get him to take it out this summer to take pics with mine.Originally posted by GETGONE View PostThe LT1 purple is a lighter shade and I think was called Hawaiian Orchid, or at least that's the Chevy color. You are WRONG! It was a factory color and factory paint. I've seen several other 91-92 Cavs and Sunfires that were that color as well. I don't have any pics of it on my computer and have no idea where the one sweet pic I had of it went.Originally posted by Extreme View PostYes, its called Hawaiian Orchid Metallic. A factory color only made in 94 and the 3rd gens, but the 3rd gens are not the same color... Join any J-body site and they will tell you. Join v6z24.com (1st and 2nd gen Cavy site) Ive only been a member of it for years now. The purple was only done on 94s.Originally posted by GETGONE View PostYou are WRONG! Purple is a seldom used color by GM through the years. I only have data on Camaros, but here is what I found:
1967 - Royal Plum (no numbers)
1992 - Purple Haze (8,588)
1993 - Purple Pearl Met. (4,920)
1994 - Purple Pearl Met. (5,801)
1995 - Dark Purple Met. (7,495)
1996 - Dark Purple Met. (2,291)
1997 - Bright Purple Met. (809)
1998 - Bright Purple Met. (431)
2002 - one GMMG ZL-1 Phase III was painted (1965) Evening Orchid
2002 - one GMMG ZL-1 prorotype (for Helen Gibb) was painted a special shade of Purple.
You can see that the numbers sold are pretty low for each year. Pontiac usually had a corresponding color for the Firebirds (but not always). I have no data for teh Firebirds. Anyone else?
The 1992 Purple Haze with the Heritage stripes (silver) is one of my favorite color combinations. (Besides white, of course! LOL)
Hawaiian Orchid must be the Pontiac name for Purple Haze, Wade?Attached FilesRIP Doug,You will always be remembered
