    Sounds like a decent deal.

And you ain't building this thing for gas mileage...and a 5.3 would look just wrong...

        $800

        Here's the specs:

from 87 mustang, stock forged pistons, bores looked real good so it was honed at stock bore and re-ringed, new bearings throughout, hot tank, plugs etc. New oil pump / pickup, machined front cover for mechanical fuel pump. Recond rods, polished crank, new timing chain.

Big roller cam, forget durations but lift is about .530. Giant valve springs with 1.65 roller rockers, big stainless valves all in some early 351 heavily ported heads.

Comes with flywheel, 2 starters, all accessories

Good T-5 transmission with shifter also included.

Just need dizzy, intake, carb and fuel pump.

        whatcha guys think?
Yeah, I'd go the 302 route. If it's carbed and stick you'll be able to make it looks as old school as you want.
I wish we still had our '50 Ford Tudor. 50,000 original mile flathead.

Go ahead Matt, Do the 302. Surcome to the peer pressure to be like everybody else, put The Carbed 5.0 engine in it instead of being different and going with the 5.3 FI engine.

In the Feb 2008 issue of Street Rodder there's a 32 Ford roadster that's done up like a traditional 50's rod but has a new 392 FI hemi in it. Another option would be to go with some old school mechanical Hilborn style injection if you could find it. There are a couple companies out there making what appear to be vintage carb setups that are really converted FI setups. I believe Moon is one company. I can't find the other one right now.

Put a turbo 4 cylinder in it.....serious...I seen it done once and it was pretty trick. Makes people go "humm" Not like you are gonna need tons of power.

Funny that you mention that. Before I even bought the truck, I told my dad quote: "If I knew you wouldnt kill me for it, I'd put a turbo 2L ecotec in the sucker".

The only downfall in my mind, is you lose that sweet v8 rumble.

But I love high tech stuff, so a direct injected, dual overhead cam variable valve timing turbo - two is awesome to me.

WOW, got a bit sidetracked today, what with all the sightseeing I did.

I got to see every engine, assembled and disassembled you could ever imagine, and a lot you can not imagine. I played with, groped and drooled over six LS9 engines today, the Gen V small block, and a host of other engines you guys will love (some unnaturally aspirated mills everyone should enjoy).

That's about all my guide told me I was free to share information wise!

The icing: my car for the day was a $67,000 Caddy STS AWD

I'm ordering up my 2x3x.120 square tube to build my frame tonight and picking it up tomorrow. The time has come to really get serious on this pup!

Not to go back & forth to work. But whenever I go anywhere outside flint while working they have to for liability reasons.
