Agreed, they were for trucks or commercial use vehicles.Originally posted by WMCC AL View PostI pretty much certain that is a pick-up truck plate. 4 numbers followed by 2 letters were truck, 2 letters followed by 4 numbers were for a car.Eastern Michigan Camaro Club - President

Makes sense, although I was pretty sure I'd seen plates with that configuration with "Water Wonderland" across the bottom, but I'm probably mistaken - or maybe those were 1959 plates that I've seen.Originally posted by WMCC AL View PostI pretty much certain that is a pick-up truck plate. 4 numbers followed by 2 letters were truck, 2 letters followed by 4 numbers were for a car.
I would love to run my matched 1968 plates on my car, but I don't want to be limited to just driving it to club events, car shows, and parades.
By the way, when is next year's Berger show? I'd love to come. Actually, it would be more appropriate to bring my dad's Corvette. It's a 1969 with an LT-1 he purchased brand new at Berger in 1971 or '72. A very cool car with a lot of "patina."

David,
How did he purchase a brand new '69 Vette at Berger in 1971 or '72? There must be an interesting story there somewhere.
It looks like it could use a little TLC.RIP Doug,You will always be remembered

Sorry, didn't mean to confuse things. The 'Vette is an original 300hp 350 that he bought used from the second owner. He bought the LT-1 from Berger as a short block and heads in '71 or '72; balanced and blueprinted the engine; added headers, side-pipes, and an Edelbrock Tarantula; and then street raced the car and used it as his daily driver. He drove it for a while, sold it to a guy who let it sit outside with the T-tops off for a year, bought it back, and drove it in the summers until 1994.
The original 300hp engine ended up in a '32 Ford hot rod.
I keep trying to persuade him to put it back on the road. All it needs is matching tires and new carpet (has rotty shag in it right now). To hell with the paint, I say, barn finds are all the rage right now.

That corvette looks sweet! Definitely come to the Berger show... it's one of the main shows that I love driving across the state for.
