  • Fallasburg Park Photoshoot - Please Critique - 56k Warning

In lieu of the photography thread I started a while ago, I finally got the chance to do a little photoshoot at Fallasburg Park near the covered bridge. Being my first shoot since the thread I tried to use as much information as I could remember and I would like to get some constructive criticism of the photo's that I took.

I have numbered the photo's for easy reference. If you click on the image it will bring up the full and original image.

Sorry for long thread. I didn't want to make 3-4 different threads for the same thing.

In terms of photo quality they turned out nice and sharp and bright. In terms of subject matter, you have junk in the background in almost all the pictures. Signs, rocks, garbage cans, trees that look like they're coming out of your car, etc. It's hard to find a good location that doesn't have a bunch of junk around to detract from your car. This is a picture from my senior pictures back in 1991 done by a professional photographer of my dad's 39 Chevy sedan street rod. I don't know if they'd throw a fit if you tried to drive down where we parked to take pictures.

23 is my favorite if you photoshop the sign out of it. 25 would also be extremely awesome if you chop it down so it's just barely wider than the car and doesn't have the rest of the background in it.. that'd be a sweet picture.

I really like the color of your car but I think it would look better in pics with less green, such as trees, behind it. Green trees just detract from the color of your car. Maybe find a spot that puts a lighter background behind your car. Just my two cents worth....by the way, isn't Fallsburg park in Lowell? I think I was there years ago.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I didn't realize how bad some of my shots where until I started looking at the things pointed out. I wish I could have gotten closer to the bridge, but they put all those big rocks in the way. I knew that if I went down the hill back there that I wasn't going to be getting back up.

Look like I may have to look into some more urban environments so that me car contrasts more.

Try getting on your belly for some low shots. Also getting the right angle is half the work. Some of the shots look a little bleached. What time of day were you shooting. If you were shooting about noontime this would expain the effect. Try shooting at dusk and other times of day. These will usually lend to the color quality.
