  • Shock problem

    O.k. like most of you I have done all the work to my car my self so I know the in's and out's perty well.

    But I have a problem and I need some help

    I can't locate the top nut on my rear shocks

    I have removed the trim in the back and exsposed the seat belt covers but I can't find that darn nut to the shock

    Where is that little bugger

    you have to pull up the carpet. they should be in the corners right behind the rear seats. At least thats where they are on the thirdgen. i imagine they are in the same place on the 4th gen.

        Don't pull up the carpet! If you flip the rear seatback down you should see to U shaped cuts in the carpet. Only the carpet will be cut and you'll need to cut the backing to flip the flap up and then pull out the foam plug that sits over top of the shock stud and nut. Using vice grips and a ratcheting box wrench works great to get them off. I just did this when I lowered my car a few months ago.

          ah, the thirdgen has a front floor, and a rear piece for carpets. sorry never did the fourth gen.

            yep, just flip the seat down and cut the U. Then you pull a big foam piece out that sorta looks like a bra stuffer
