Thoughts on LCA relo brackets

what are your opinions on LCA relocation brackets? I was looking at the UMI ones and their site says they will get me .1 off my 60ft times on my stock height fbody.

In the past I was always under the impression that these things were mainly just for the guys that lowered their cars. I never plan to lower mine but I am curious about those claims about .1 off the 60ft for stock height cars.

Anyone have these or have input? I have some UMI LCAs sitting in the bedroom waiting to be installed this spring and thought maybe I could do the relo brackets at the same time if it were beneficial to me.

i talked to ryan from umi and when i get my stuff def getting the relo brackets... said it will help in lauches and give it better handleing .... might want to wait to order them tho they are very very busy and backed up on orders..... but if ur doing LCA i would do the relo brackets as well

I guess they really work good on thirdgens. From what I heard it helps the geometry of the rear end.

It's a big difference....at least it was on my car. Just don't try and burn the tires in REVERSE with the relocation brackets......wheel hop like a mo-fo...don't ask me how I know that.

dont try to burn them in any gear on mine and it will hop until i put my bracklets on

relocation brackets are a very good idea for F-bodies, F-bodies have some of the worst rear suspension out there, this helps to get rid of some of the "sag" we encounter on launch.

when a mustang or anything else with a nice rear suspension launches you will see the back of the car lift up, this is the suspension just jamming that tire as hard as it can into the pavement, f-bodies don't have that...

The reason relocation brackets work so well is because they move the instant center of your suspension closer to the middle of the car. Imagine looking at your car from the side. Picture an imaginary line drawn down the side of your control arms and extending to a point somewhere toward the front of your vehicle The torque arm would have another line drawn down it's center and at some point the two will intersect. That is your instant center. That is the point where your suspension will be trying to "lift" the chassis. When stock and especially when lowered, this point could be way out in front of the car or in some cases when lowered, it may never intersect. This is why lowered F bodies have terrible wheel hop problems. It's also why our cars tend to squat on launch. Imagine trying to lift a ten pound bag on the end of a ten foot pole. Pretty difficult, of course. Now shorten that pole up to two feet. Much easier to lift now. This is the same effect shortening your instant center has on your suspension. Putting LCA relocation brackets even on a stock ride height F body brings your instant center back towards the center of your car which plants the tires harder and helps improve your 60 FT times. And if you wonder how I know all this info, I used to crew for a low 7 second '00 Z-28 and it was pretty much required knowledge since I had to help decide how to change the suspension to get the car down the track. When dealing with a car that can knock off 1.06 second 60 FT times, it's pretty important

Lol....I thought I busted my Torsen diff or snapped an axle when it happened. Not a fun experience!

These are a must on these cars. These are kinda like a thing that not many people know about but they def. help. FOR SURE a must for better 60 ft times

yea that is what I am hearing from the guys over at ls1tech and some of the other boards I have searched as well. Sounds like something I want to invest in. To bad I can't find a set used or cheaper on ebay right now. I will have to keep my eyes open.

I say they're a must too....I love UMI,got there LCA's and PHR....but on ws6store you can get RPM relocation brackets that are the same as everyone elses for way cheaper....thats what I did and have no probs at all.

You should get them. When I do my suspension, I will definitely be adding these.

RPM ones are about 10 bucks cheaper on their website, not that big of a difference but still cheaper, thanks for the heads up

Oh,ya,your right....Did UMI lower the price? I could of swore ost companys wanted over $100 for brackets.
