  • Air ride on the T/A

I've been considering upgrading the suspension on the the T/A all year. However she is my daily driver that see's everything that Michigan has to offer for road conditions. The thing I hate the most is having to worry about the front bumper at stock ride height when pulling in parking ramps, or steep drive ways. I want to lower my car, but I don't think the bumper, or muffler will take the abuse. I've considered the QA1 setup but the thought of adjusting the shocks for the work week and again for cruise nights or drag racing will be a pain in the butt. Thats when I considered the air rid suspension system. I was curious if anyone new of anyone that has it? I can't find any sites of 4th gens that have the kit. The air ride site sucks for info on this system.

Keep in mind I don't want to have this system to drop and raise every place I go. I just want something that I can ride at stock height on the highway and back roads. Then when I'm cruising drop her 1-2 inchs. For drag racing I think it be nice to adjust bag pressure in the rear bags for traction. If possible I think it would be cool to drop my car 2-2.5 inches in parking lots. I know its going to take a decent size tank and compressor to do all this, but I think the ride quality will be worth it. Let me know what you guys think and any recomendations on compressors or tanks. I think that I could have a pretty nice kit for under $2,500?

For drag racing...no. For show/look...yes. My buddy has air ride on his 02 Blown/Built saleen. That thing bounces all over the place when he tries to race. Ive driven the car..and it feels like the cars swaying back and forth like your in a boat. Dropping it down is gonna do nothing for you with drag racing. If youve ever looked..they actually have an air bag you pump up on one side of your rear....to distribute the weight transfer from the torque. Being lower with airbags isnt gonna help you any.

I wasn't thinking about lowering it for racing. I was considering decreasing the back pressure and running a bit more up front on launch? I had a ride in my friends Eclipse with air ride. He said that if you loosen up the bags on the highway it feels like slop and as if you were floating. When he drops it the tires have to be straight so he doesnt bust the fenders. The only problem other than that is it takes forever to charge the tank. I would want to be able to raise and lower my car 3-5 times before that tank got empty if possible.

I have had Air ride on mine for over 10 years. You aren't going to be able to raise and lower my car 3-5 times before that tank goes empty unless you plan on pulling a trailer too. I have just a 2-1/2 gallon tank and a larger compressor. I can bring mine up to ride height in about 15-20 seconds.

How's it feel on the highway? How about on corners? I was told that if I get the four way adjustable controller that the car will handle amazing on turns because it will adjust the bag pressure? Where do you have your tank and pump located?

Anyone ever hear of this company? I thought that there was only the air ride version? This kit look's like they just cut a pair of stock struts and welded a air bag on top for the fronts. Maybe i'm incorrect?

I'd just lower it. many of us, me included drive around with drops all the time. Its 100% fine, only issues is going down or up a streep driveway, just take it slow and at an angle. You will love the look and will be much easier cheaper. Just do the drop! lol
