  • Need New Wheels

Well I need some new wheels. Mine are out of round and pretty sure thats what is causing my vibrations at 80mph+.

I just have no idea what kind of wheels I want.

I am trying to run a small tire up from as I plan on going manual rack and don't want to try to turn a 275 tire.

235 or something would probably work.

Cruising wheel? You don't want a 235 tire, 245 or 255 up front... You have a drag setup right?

Yes I have a drag setup of bias plys.

The street is 275/40/17s but I plan on taking out the power steering and the power rack. I don't wanna try to turn 275s in a parking lot.

Why not? The 245 is the stock size.

If you are reffering to the Mille Miglia 1000s (I think thats what they were called), they are 100% the reason you are getting vibrations.

I have a set of 16x8 Trans Am wheels, One of the outer lips is bent but $60 for all four.

4th gen V6 cars had 235/55 tires which is slightly taller than a 245/50

            What do you want 16s 17s 18s?

Yes those are the wheels I am talking about.
I never noticed a vibration until I did all the work on the suspension and driveline. So I had me worried I messed something up. But when I had them mount some tires on the wheels they told me the wheels were bent and I need to get new ones, first I didn't believe them just thought they were trying to make a sale. But rolling the tires down the driveway they do the wobble.

I don't want 18s. I was considering salad shooters. Althought I like the look of C6 Z06 rims. Black with a machined lip.
I need at least 16s at only certain 15s like my drag rims will clear the calipers.

Anyone use OE Wheels? I want decent wheels but I dont wanna drop 2k on wheels on and tires.

i've had two sets from OEwheels, one 18" vette motorsports wheels and my current 17" ZR1s. never had any problems with them at all, they take the abuse of auto crossing on 315 Hoosier R-comps with out any issues.

If they have what you want, OEwheels is a good vendor.

OEwheels are fine, I was going to order their ZR1 Wheel and Tire combo for like $1100 shipped to my door but found a good deal on CL... I have seen many OEwheels in person and look to be of good quality. Some guys around here have them. But you can find cheap wheels on CL if you look hard enough and if your not looking for a high class high $$ wheel. I see C5, C6, ZR1 wheels all day everyday on CL. Shoot there is a set on there now in Grand Blanc for $300. There are some OEM corvette wheels with brand new tires for $1200, some C6 wheels in the boxes for $600...

Tell me what you want to see on that car and I will keep a eye out for you, I am on CL everyday and I know you work a ton so you probably dont have the time to always find the good deals. Or just order them up from OEwheels... Your Mr Money bags anyhow!
