  • Thump, Thump, Thump......Help!

Hey everyone, i have noticed in the last few days that after i am driving and go to slow down, once i am barley rolling i hear a soft Thump, Thump, Thump, etc. coming from the passenger wheel well. I have changed all brakes and it is still doing this. Could this be an exhaust hangar banging or does it sound like something more? I have looked under the car but see nothing out of the ordinary. Anybody have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Stephen

Check the bushings on the control arms, rear might be trying to dog leg

You might have a tire problem, take a close look at side walls for bulges.

Thanks my buddy, you were correct......all the bushings both front and rear are pretty dry rotted and worn. Does anyone make a complete kit to rebush everything at one time? Also, if not, can you recommend the best bushings for it? I'm also considering upgrading the struts and shocks as well, what would be good for general street messing around? Thanks!
            Thanks,
            Stephen

i thought summit has prothane and energy poly bushing kits, otherwise rock auto you can get bushings for a decent price or local auto parts store.

Check out Founders Performance for their lower control arms. Great product for the price, and it would save the hassle of swapping out the old bushings.

^ditto shops will charge you upwards of $50+ just to press bushings, the bushings are about $30 themselves. You are better buying founders rotojoint LCAs. it's one of the best mods I ever did on my car. You only need the ones with rotojoints on one side, both sides not really necessary. It's best to stay away from adjustables as well. Your other option if you don't want to do performance parts is just order Moog bushings from rockauto.com those are the next best thing.

While agree with most of what Phil said, but for a street car I'd just do the cheaper arms. For a full "no-bind" rear suspension I'd go for the spherical rod ends on both sides. You will feel a difference, but you will hear it as well.

Their "swivel joint" LCA's look nice, but I have no experience with them.

                        Yup.

I might sell my LCA's to upgrade. The red Z28 has BMR arms now, if I keep the car it will go full track prep for Grattan

well everyone, i finally had a chance to put my car up on ramps to see what was going on in the rear end....turns out that my shock bushings are wore completely out as well as all the rest of my bushings. i figure while im at it i might as well go ahead and replace my stock LCR's with some good Founders tubular ones and have the complete rear end done at one time. can anyone tell me the best place to purchase and the best brand of bushings to purchase? keep in mind, i don't race so im just looking to basically upgrade the stocker's....Thanks!
                            Thanks,
