Well... I spent my day checking to make sure everything was snug. No play in the wheel hub or assembly. Control arm bushings looked good. bearing plates were good. calipers aren't sticking. and the steering rack seems to be holding it own pretty well. But one thing that was off...

The air pressure in the tires.

all four tires were around 30 psi.

I guess I can't take a shops word that they check the air pressure on tires.

Filled the tires up to proper levels and my lord! Talk about a lot nicer ride! I'm thinking it is the best i will get with 120k on the decarbon shocks

I agree. I have read multiple posts on ls1lt1 and ls1 tech that say having the 275's out front really make the car follow the grooves in the road. I can definitely at least enjoy how it feels now.

And of course thank you to everyone for your ideas and help with trouble shooting. Hoping I can lend a hand to someone else if trouble comes his/her way.

I don't get it, 30psi is what I've been running for 8+ years. I have 275/40/17 summer tires though, you might have something different. What did you set them at? I once ran at 35psi on an old set of tires and had uneven wear from overinflation.

Also on your next alignment get the castor set above 5.0, somewhere between 5 and 6. The higher it is the more your steering will return back to center after turns and the less it will float around, it will require a little more effort, but that also means the road will have a harder time floating it back and forth.

I keep mine around 32-34 steering is more responsive. Comfort-wise, I notice no difference, it's already pretty rough.

Thanks guys. I put them around 40-42 psi. It helped out with the wandering. But this is also the first time I have ever driven an fbody so I am not sure exactly how rough/road gripping these cars are. I was just comparing it to my grand prix, which is semi sporty. probably a bad comparison though. :/

Geez, that seems kinda high. I've always kept mine at 32psi. I wonder if the reason it's helping with wandering is because the over-inflation is causing the contact patch to be narrower.

My car does that with 275's in the front too, was told it was normal. I've contemplated going to a narrower tire in front.

road wander is normal with tires this wide. its more noticeable to me when braking. Also check your toe.

I notice it a bit more when braking too. So maybe I am trying to fix something that isn't wrong. I'll drop the pressure in the tires a bit and see how that handles.

mine was wandering like a mofo before i put new tires and an alignment. i had a bit too much negative toe and that was most likely the culprit. if your worried about it go get an alignment done, or atleast checked.

wide tires can follow the big 'grooves' in the road. its called Camber Thrust. Find the NEWEST piece of pavement (where no grooves yet)you can get, and see if it still happens. You can also play with the wheel while you are driving to guide the car in/out of the grooves... you should do this to verify it is Camber Thrust. The car should switch pull when you get on the oppposite slope of the groove.

increasing pressure will lift the edges of the tires and reduce Camber Thrust.... it can also cost you in stopping ability.
