  • Good local place for an alignment?

Where do you guys take your Fbodies for alignments? Just the standard Belle Tire type stores, or do you have a good local shop?

Anything I should consider, or just have them align it to factory specs? This would be front only, I am still running factory LCA's in the rear.

Everyone says run 4.5 castor for some reason on these cars, I don't think it's enough. I just had mine set to 4.5 castor, 0 toe and -.7 camber. I think I liked castor higher around 5.5 or more. It makes your steering very heavy, but it won't track all over the road and it helps add camber in really hard corners. It's all personal preference really. I'm still getting more used to the very light wheel feel now.
This place is a bargain at around $40 but its pretty far from macomb. http://www.haroldsframeshop.com/

Thanks! That's interesting, I'll have to do more research - mine certainly tracks pretty badly. Not sure if it's just the nature of the car, a bad alignment, or the 275's all around. I'd definitely like to clear that up if I can, it's kind of irritating fighting the wheel all the time.

stay away from the Belle tire kind of places. find a reputable frame shop to do it. I use Harold's Frame Shop in Novi and won't let anybody else touch the suspension and alignment on my cars.
When in doubt, Whip it out !

I've always gone to the Belle Tire at 23 Mile Rd and Van Dyke and I haven't had any issues with them. They have an in-ground, drive-on alignment rack so my lowered car can get on it without scraping.

Cool - I do like the 23 Mile Belle Store.

I'll look into what the specs should be for the car. Nice thing about cutting stock springs is I don't have to worry too much about settling - they've already got 70k on them. I can't imagine it'd take long or much for the seats and whatnot to "settle".
