    Very good write-up!

Yea you are right, I was probably bouncing off my original OE bumpstops and that is what was rattling my teeth.

I can only imagine what that felt like - the stock bumpstops are rock hard and totally unforgiving.

I didn't get around to it tonight - instead put together a Radio Flyer "offroad" wagon and took a family walk.

Cut a full coil out of the front of my Iroc. I also had to cut about an inch out of the bump stops... Going to attempt the rear springs today.

Nice - how did the ride quality change in yours?

The plan is to get back out in the garage tonight. If I can get these assemblies out of the car, disassembled, and cut a 1/2 coil out tonight I'll be happy. I should then be able to reassemble and reinstall tomorrow night.

Then I get to start messing with the rear end height!

Not much. It was a little stiffer but hardly noticeable.

So, I am mid-reassembly and have to stop for the night. Made a couple of bonehead moves that made this more difficult.

Just wanted to say that it's important you follow JasonWW's directions in the Mount Mod link and CUT THE END OF THE SHOCK SHORTER if you're going to mod the mount. I was reluctant to do so, figured I'd give it a try without, and if I heard noise I would cut it. Passenger side is fine, but it must have contacted the body on the driver's side as it slightly bent the threaded portion of the shock. Luckily, the shock itself seemed to be fine. Needless to say, mine are about 1/2" shorter now.

Anyway, here's what I had with my ~1" lower stance. I count 9 complete coils, which means I had exactly 10 to start with. I cut exactly 1 coil to get the 1" drop.

Here's where it sits now...we'll see how much it drops. I count exactly 8.5 coils

                One side

180* from previous pic (notice the location of the studs in the mount in each pic)

                  Excited to see the results.

I chopped a full coil out of the rear of my car and it went down about an inch. I'm hoping it settles or i may take out another half.

                    Looks really good, Mike!

Hopefully I'll get it back together tonight. Need to pick up some M10 hex flange bolts as one of my bonehead moves included inadvertently pressing both of the studs out of the brand new driver's side mount. Need to pull the passenger assembly back out to trim off some of the threaded portion of the shock rod (don't want a repeat of what happened on the driver's side), and I think I am going to tear down the diver's side again to really inspect it since I know I bent it. It's really bothering me that I did that on a brand new shock. Want to inspect and make sure it's just the threaded portion that bent.

Anyway, probably about 1.5 hours of work tonight and it'll be back on the ground.

                      Thanks!

Sounds like you have the right idea. My old 4th gen was WAY TOO LOW. I think i went down about 3 inches all around with 19s out back. Even with rolled fenders i would continually chew up my rear tires going over the slightest bumps at speed.

I am a little concerned about the tires hitting the fender/liner up front if I were to hit a really large bump, but hopefully this won't be low enough to be an issue. Don't want to be too low, but I wanted it to drop just a little more than where I was at with 1 coil. Hopefully this extra 1/2 coil nets me .5" or .75" at the very most. I'm actually kind of nervous about it now that I did it. I am very anxious to see how it sits and what the road characteristics are. I was very pleased with how it rode with 1 coil cut, so I just hope I didn't completely mess that up!

The fact that I bent the shock is really eating away at me too, hence me planning to take it apart to inspect it again. I think I am borderline OCD about some things!

uneven driveway, but you get the idea. Don't go that low in michigan. Those were k-sport coilovers.

                            Speaking of low........

After a ride, mine settled down about 3/8" or so. Need to get back into it and do a little lift.

Can't wait to see your Kevin!

Mike - yeah, not looking to go that low. Hopefully I'll end up 1/2"-3/4" lower than my most recent pic.

Jim - Wow, yeah, looks like she needs to come back up a bit. Going to bring it in to Warren anytime soon? I'd love to swing by design and check it out.
