  • Anyone running SLP Springs? Pic request please!

My hope is that early next year I will be doing my suspension/braking upgrades, and am considering the SLP springs with bilsteins. Reason being, I really don't want to firm up the ride much, just want a little better stance (no more 4x4 look!). From what I have read, the SLP springs seem to be in between stock and aftermarket lowering springs.

My question is, though - anyone running these, and if so, can you put up a pic? If it doesn't noticeably improve the stance, there's no point in buying these. I'd have to make the call between the "comfort" of the 4x4 stance and the looks of the lowering springs. For what it's worth, I am perfectly happy with how it handles right now - I am not looking to race the car, because streetcar.

Also - being that my car has "base" SLP upgrades, I am assuming that I do not have these springs on, correct? I further believe this as my shocks are orange, which I assume are the factory decarbons. If I had SLP springs as part of the SS upfitter package, I'd have Bilsteins, right?

Cliff's notes: If you run SLP drop springs, please post a pic so I can see stance!

If you like everything the way it is now except for the stance, you might be a good candidate for the BMR 1" drop front a-arms. Kinda pricey since they're tubular, but probably cheaper than the SLP/Bilstein combo. It'll drop you 1" in front, then do the heater hose mod in back for 1/2" - 3/4" drop in the rear. You'll have the exact same ride/handling as you do now, but the stance will be better.

    Just food for thought.

Jim - thanks for the head's up -truthfully, didn't even know those existed! Nice to have another option.

Joel - that actually looks really good to me. I'll have to check out the white SS you mentioned too.

man my car had the bilsteins and SLP springs when it was stock many moons ago, it was a good stance, (although I would have preferred it a bit lower) let my dig up some old pics of my car...
yes, a freakin scanned picture, it's that old!

and I just got all sad looking at these old pics, why the **** did I rip my car apart and make it a "because racecar"....it was fine before!

I agree Matt. I wish these springs were just a tad lower, but I'd rather be a little too high than too low. It's the best compromise height IMO.

Yeah I had purchased a set of the Eibach Pro-Kit springs to throw on the car instead of these but they never made it on the car, and I went with the current setup of adjustable QA1 coil-overs up front, and stock cut rear springs with QA1 adjustable shocks

Wow, I totally got ADD and didn't see these last few responses. Those pics look really good, Matt - pretty much what I am looking for. Wonder how much I'd like ride quality. Maybe I can check Joel's out when he gets them on.

Kinda torn between the SLP setup or the Strano/Bilstein. I'm also considering what Jim mentioned about the drop a-arms.

I was deciding between the same two options. I decided to go with the slp kit for 3 reasons: 1) alot of people i talked to with konis werent impressed with ride quality Of konis 2) i didnt see myself wanting to mess with adjusting them and 3) the slp kit was a lot cheaper. Im planning on installing it all over winter break!

Edit: by the way youre definitely welcome to come check it out!

Sweet, thanks. That's what I am considering too - seems Bilsteins are pretty much the best for a road car, which is my intended usage being a vert and all, but lowering springs tend to wear them out.

I had 1.75" drop springs with KYB's on my old W-Body and while it wasn't terrible, it pretty much made it ride like a stock F-body. What I don't want to do is take my stock F-Body and make it ride more firm....I am sounding like an old man, but this is just about at the threshold of what I'd want.

Sure, I'd like it to look slammed, but I also don't want to scrape on everything in sight (my Prix scraped pretty well), and I don't want it to ride like a dump truck.

So, as long as the SLP springs aren't too firm for me, it seems they are the best option.
