  • Backspacing ?

Just wondering, if I were to run 17"x8" front and 17"x9" rear wheels, what backspacing would I need to make them fit without sticking out or rubbing? I'd like to get rid of the staggered C5DD wheels I have and get something a little more understated (and save money on tires), but I don't know what to go with.

Also, with those rim sizes, what size tires should I go with? I was thinking probably 275/40ZR17 rear and 245/40ZR17 front, but I'm not exactly sure.

    Thanks in advance!

I want black steelies. . . Going for the "sleeper" look. I have a set of C5DD wheels from OEWheels, I love them, but they were unique when I first got them, and now everyone and their brother has them. I want my car to be unique, so I'm going to try to make my car look as stock as possible. So "stock", in fact, that even in stock trim, it didn't look so stock. haha

The plan is to get a set of 17" steelies (Cragar Soft 8's or the like) in the size and backspacing I want, wrap them in decent rubber, install the SLP 2OTL, remove the "Formula V8" decals, ditch the tinted stock tails and corners for some bone-stock V6 tails and non-tinted corners, and enjoy the sleepy goodness. . .

Thanks for the heads up, though!

And of course, the only option for the Cragar's in the size and lug pattern I need are 5" backspace. Is there any way to make that work? Would they stick out too far, or would I need to run spacers to make them stick out far enough? This is confusing. . .

Thanks for that post. Very helpful. I was just getting ready to ask the same question about wheels and tires for my 93 TA
