  • To run or not to run power steering.

IS there anyone on here not running power steering on a 3rd gen? I am thinking of not runing it. Just wanted to know how hard it will be to steer. Well not me more the wife in casse she ever does drive it. I would be going with the conversion kit which I guess is just a s10 unit.

To run power steering. I don't know that it is much of an improvement over the stock unit. Even if it is it will be harder to turn.

Yeah just wondering how much harder. I am not really worried about gaining horse power more just want a clean engine bay.

Do not run it. It clean up the engine bay so much with out.

I run an s-10 box on my car and it's very easy to turn. It's just more turns from lock to lock (more turns to do the same amount as before). You can turn the wheels easily with the car sitting in one place.

If you your interested in running a s-10 box we might be able to work out a price on mine.

I dont run power steering the "S10" box is actually called a saginaw 525 box. Honestly not having it kind of sucks. Parking lot manuevering is a pain. If its a drag car, who cares. If its a street car, keep it. The only way I'd recommend doing it is with a manual rack setup.

I have a "s10" box. Works perfect. I like it. My little girl friend has driven it no problem.

Thanks that is what I have been waiting to hear. I really dont want to run power steering. I dont like the ugly pumps and the chrome ones look just as bad. My wife almost never touches my cars anyways but says she will with this one.
