  • Rubbing with a 275/40/17 passenger front only!

Well went and test fitted Outlaw-53 (Mikes) TTII's on my front to see where I rub because I had a feeling I would somewhere. And sure enough. I rub on the passenger side. Same exact size I plan on running 275/40/17

Doesnt rub at all on the driver side, clears it just perfectly... Here are the spots that it knicks in the wheel well and the ground effect.

Should I beat the wheel well in that spot? What about the part with the GFX? Any way around it..or Do I have to take off the front gfx?

Last year I was in reverse leaving my storage unit and there is a dip. I didnt realize how close I was to it and ended up bottoming out the front. Pushed my front passenger GFX off a bit and the front of my pass side. I dont know if that had to do with the rubbing or not?

Picture looks worse than it is because of the angle I was in. But its still knicking it pretty good

    Bump anyone?

Anyone know if the offset of a 17x9.5 TTII could be the problem?. I know its a longshot since it didnt rub on driver front. Trying to find out answers asap..really rather have the problem fixed/figured out to put on the 17s instead of just buying a set of four stockers.

Maybe PM 02redcamaro, he has 18" C6 Z06 wheels, 35 series tire IIRC and the RS ground effects and his stuff doesnt rub.

Sounds more like a caster problem to me if it's rubbing on one side and not the other (yes, it is adjustable using a rod tool after loosening the lower control arm, and so is camber...)

Have you bought wheels yet Rolo? I (my dad has) have a set of 17x9.5 C6's at home for sale, 275/40's BFG G-force on two, M/T et streets on the back. He's planning on selling those and buying my drag set.

Also, backspacing on the TT2's? That area can't be beaten in...it's plastic. You can cut it, but I would just get a set that fits.
Honestly a 265 feels just right up front but I have 18x10.5's on my car. The 285's seem a little narrow in the rear for me but there's only one brand of 315's available...$700 a pair and wear rating of 100.

Yea im not going 285. Just going to stay with 275 all the way around. I havnt bought wheels yet. Just ordered my tires and came in yesterday at work..but didnt pay yet. Want to get this figured out before I actually by the wheels.

So are you saying I need an alignment for the front end?

Yeah get more negative caster to bring the wheel further back in the wheel well, then readjust toe.

Wheels we have are the C6 5-spokes.

So would it be a bad idea to get alignment first? My front are a 3.32nd and rears are a 4.32nds.

By chance would those vette wheels be gunmetal by chance? Those are the ones I plan on buying.

Wouldn't be a bad idea to align first, I mean it is all suspension settings. Might want to put the new wheels on and get them "fit" and just not turn too hard on the way there.

Wheels are chrome, non ZO6 5-spokes.

So ordering the new wheels would be a better idea? Only problem is I don't want to be out $1200 if the rubbing continues

Which is why I rather get alignment first but tires are shot...pretty shifty situation I have haha

Anything look damaged? Car was involved in a minor accident for owner #3. Or so carfax said.

I'd go get an alignment before getting yur wheels. See if theres any issues.
