which tires?

was wondering if anyone has any ideas about brands. when i bought the car it had 275-40-17 bfgs. when needed replaced they got nitto 555 extreme performance tires same size. now im shopping again and cant figure out what to get. i wanted to put a size wider out back but cant seem to figure out the sizes. ill stick with the 275-40-17s if need be but does anyone make a 285 or 295 17 tire that will match the 275? i also am on a budget, cant afford a $1000 set of tires

decent traction and treadwear lol. which is going to be very hard with my new found power lol. but seems the nittos went way fast and i rotated them often. id like something that might try and hook at the strip.

i see nittos do make the 555 in a 285-40-17 also so that helps

just noticed that myself thats kinda shitty. Well I assume you don't want a drag radial seeing as they don't last very long being street driven? If thats the case BFG makes a great tire IMO but not much in the form of a street tire is going to hook well at the track.

-285 40 17s should be installed on a 9.5" wide wheel(assuming you have a 9" wheel). On that note I strongly suggest getting 275 40s on all four corners, not for safety alone but so you can rotate your tires. The extra 10 mm isn't going to make a difference

Completely agree. It would be one thing if you were doing a 275 up front and 315 rear combo, but putting the 285s in the rear aren't worth the hassle of not being able to rotate them. Plus, the tires are going to look a little goofy having 9.5" wheels in the front and rear, but different size tires.

On a stock car they are more than fine. My LT1 car was proven to be a VERY strong car, and I had Sumitomos and Riken Raptors on it. Never had a problem with either one. Sure I could break loose in second gear if I REALLY tried to, but I could also pedal it where I had plenty of traction from a 5mph roll.

How were they going around corners? When I was reading reviews people were saying they were like driving on marshmallows...which I suppose my 555r's will feel like but that's a different situation.
