  • Wheel shopping

I'm looking for a staggered set of 19" wheels and must have 19x11 rears. I've been doing a lot of searching and it came down to one wheel, forgestar f05. I really don't like the design that much but I love the lip on the 11" wheel, it's like 3 3/4" big. And for the quality and price and custom offsets it's a steal.

I'm looking for something like the Ruff Racing 278's, a split 5 spoke and bigger than average lip because I will paint the lip. I have 2k to spend on wheels alone, I know that's almost 3pc forged wheels territory and that'd be even better!

Please any suggestions let me know.

Just remember, the bigger the lip, the easier they bend! This applies to the smooth lip wheels only obviously.

$2K will get you into a nice set of billet/forged 2 piece wheels, but I don't recall finding a 3 piece wheel that cheap when I did all my wheel shopping. However, maybe the market has changed since I got mine (4-5 years ago). Good luck with your search, it's fun!

stay with the 18s, any bigger than that and the wheels start getting real pissed at michigan roads

            stay with 18s.
            1. IMO anything bigger than 18s look bad on 4th gens
            2. you have better tire choices in 18s
            3. usually cheaper wheels and tire
            4. what liz said, less likely to bend a wheel

Man those forgestar f05's are growing on me!!!! There's a black TA on ls1tech that has them-amazing.

Plus they are flowformed so they're almost as strong as 3pc forged and they're even lighter than the stock wheels!

I'd do 19's if I were doing it all over again...my 18's just look too small now.

+2 on finding a 3pc wheel for 2k. Just put a deposit on a set of 3pc today . FWIW, I went 18".... Not feelin' 19s on these cars. Only have seen a few that can pull it off, but MI roads? 500 bucks or 5k it wont be long before youre repairing one!

                        ^What wheels are you getting?

I'll definitely be going with 18's now, the c5 dd in black. I might just buy the wheels and set them aside til next summer because oe wheels have a limited run of the 18x9.5's. These will do until I man up and get a set of iforged aero's-that's what I REALLY want!

I think 18's with a drop will look as good if not better than 19's, I've seen a *few* 19's look amazing in person but I've every single time I've seen 18's they look amazing!

Boy am i glad I didn't rush into buying those forgestar 19's

Broke down for a set of Fikse (Profile 5s) . 18 x 9.5 and 18 x 11. Iforged was definately in the running...nice wheels! Didn't plan on buying wheels until late winter/early spring. Kind of put a kink in the project 'budget'. Saved a pretty good chunk so I couldn't pass it up... Now I'll be stuck staring at these things for next 6 months

^ that was the deal! Saved just over a 1k from normal list....like I said, couldn't pass it up. Was leaning towards a full polish, but ended up with Dark Speed Silver .... little nervous, but it should be pretty slick on a black SS (01).
