  • 2002 rims

I have a 2002 Firebird with stock rims and the inside of the rim surface is peeling off any suggestions on what to do. The outside of the rims are great. Are these rims aluminum or chrome?

Chrome-plated aluminum. You might be able to get away with sanding at what's chipping off on the inside and then clearcoating over it to seal it.

      Used to own a Firebird.

Yep like John & Vinnie said they're chrome plated aluminum.........as for stopping the peel??? I hate to say it but once it starts, it's going to be hard to stop it. Vinnie's idea of sanding it down and clearing it is your best bet.

same thing happpened to a set of chrome wheels i have... I bought a couple wire wheels for my drill., and some por15 (SILVER), along with the recommended cleaners.
Go to town with the wire wheels until you get as much of the flaking knocked down as you can, then use the POR stuff. worked for my wheels, that was 4+ years ago. Make sure you tape the face of the wheel VERY well
