Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!
If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please contact us!
Well I guess we need to know what do you want to end up with when the car is done. Are you on a tight budget?, do you care about handling? Do you want a race car? or a cruiser that drives well like when it was new?
If it just gonne be a cruiser, new rubber bushings, cheap gabriel/monroe shocks/struts, and BJs make a huge difference.People always compare old worn out stock parts with aftermarket parts with poly bushings and give so much praise to there new parts. But new rubber parts make a big difference as well. IMO I don't care for poly bushings inless it is a race car. They can be difficult to install, give a harsher ride, and some of them squeek.
You could reuse the springs, sway bars, control arms etc.

If your on a tight budget, it's hard to beat KYB's for shocks and struts. I put a set on my IROC ten plus years ago when I was tight on money and they are still going strong, even with the car lowered.
the adjustable stuff allows you to completly center your rearend from side to side (panhard bar) and front to back (lower control arms). Its a good investment IMO.

Well Jon I am by no means an expert on Suspension but I did a lot of research before I chose my parts. Although I know 4th gens better the 3rd gen rears are essentially the same so doing LCA and PHB are a must.
The nice thing about those parts is you get new bushings with them.
I would do poly/rod end adj because in a turn the poly bushings tend to bind if their on both ends of the bars where as the rod end will pivot and not bind. Most will tell you that Rod ends are noisier and transmit more vibration thru the chassis and that's correct. that is why I suggest to use a poly end on the body mount side.
When shocks are concerned I'm biased towards Koni's because of their outstanding quality and superior valving. Add to that a lifetime warranty.
Although the KYB's are a nice set up I don't like the fact that you can not adjust compression and rebound seperately. The Koni S/A (Single Adj) have a static compression setting and are adjustable for rebound only. I am not so familiar with 3rd gen spring pkgs just make sure the drop isn't to drastic 1-1.25" is usually good. And make sure the Spring rates are higher then stock.
