  • Car sits low on one side

i noticed my 98 z28 sits lower on the passengers side, very noticable, heck even my wife asked me why it sits funny. Checked my air pressure it was fine. Anybody had had problems with weak springs? Damn i hope its not in the frame( or lack of it,lol) I think this car was involved in a accident at one time because i'm missing some of the plastic underbody sheilds etc. I measured the fender height and it shows about 3/4" differance

There's been times I've thought mine sat that way but then I just attributed it to an optical allusion cause it wasn't all the time. Could be springs maybe.

FYI, did you get my email or PM?

Maybe the passenger side springs are missing the spring isolators at the top of the pocket

usually you will hear atleast a creak outta the spring if its weak or you lose an isolator... hmm maybe shocks/struts? would drop it a little it they blew out but still you would notice a thunk in the suspension when you hit any kind of bump...

Taking the car in today for lower ball joints, maybe they will see something thats causing this. I planned on replacing the front shocks this summer, maybe springs now too.

Well damn.....lower ball joints didnt seem to fix anything, replaced them both and while it was on the hoist i replaced both outer tierods. Still handles like a giant slippery turd, what ever that means. the mechanic said he thought the clunking noise was coming from the rear shocks so when i got home i removed them. They seem fine but what the heck i guess i will through new ones in. Next step is to take it to a frame shop to see if something is screwed up in the frame. I love buying a used car some dip stick didnt take care of.

Yeah don't even get me started on all the things previous owners have screwed up on my car.

It's prolly nothing major with your car. I notice alot of cars that don't quite sit level. It's prolly just normal wear and tear. Maybe check the springs. Not sure with cars w/o leaf springs.

well ball joints wouldn't mess with ride hieght that much.. unless they are completly blew out of the socket.. but i doubt your car would move much less sit.. i would be looking at your struts and your springs.. i would say struts moreover because unless your running that thing over some very bumpy surfaces.. then i doubt the springs would go.. they usually have a good long life.. i could be wrong.

a bent unibody is another suspect also.. start with the small stuff first
