  • Need opinions on what to do with wheels.

I've had the speedline ZO6 wheels for awhile now and want something new. I got some ZR1's for a good price from a neighbor. They would allow the 315's to fit better than on my 9.5" wheels currently. They have some road rash, but I plan on painting them and it should cover most of it up. There is a place nearby that does cheap powdercoating.

I'm not sure if I want to go all black. Or if I should go black and leave the lip polished. Or go black and paint the lip blue to match my paint. I kind of like the blue lip idea, but it's kinda popular with the import crowd, so I'm not sure.

    What should I do?

i think it looks good with the painted lip. Somebody on the site has black wheels with a red lip and it looks pretty cool. but in all honesty..i like the look of the zo6 rims better than the zr1's So if it were up to me, i would get the zo6 rims painted if you want a change it up a bit. just my opinion.

My brother was telling me to leave it with the ZO6's. I still like it that way too. I may just mess with the ZR1's and if I don't like them, I don't have too much money into them.

I've been thinking about trying this with my wheels; polish the face, paint the inside of the wheel black.

Gives the car a unique look, that's for sure.

do the wheels have any lip to them? If so, all black with a blue stripe on the inside of the lip would look cool! Saw a red vette this weekend at the golf club with all black wheels, lip and all, with a red stripe on the inside of the lip where it meets the spokes, looked pretty cool! Just another idea

I like the Z06 rims, ZR1s look good, but everyone has them (which makes sense, since they look good).

IMHO, don't do any version of black wheels. The black just makes the wheels loose any definition and detail and look like some taxi cab which lost it's hub caps from more that 10 feet away. Even worse when you drive past, they just look like black holes.

Wheels are like "car jewelry" and should add to the cars appearance not take away from the look.

I know black wheels are all the rage right now. Especially for the younger crowd. I guess I'm old school as they simply look blah to me. But it's your car, so do what you like.

100% agree...the wheels make or break a car...

Oh absolutely - stance is really important too, but wheels are a huge factor.

My dad's almost 60 and he likes black rims on certain cars - like what will be going on mine, so not age - just opinion...

Like Kolin's car - White with black ZR1s...looks drop dead gorgeous...

If the blue was more like the Grand Sport Vette blue (whatever it's called), black ZR1s would be awesome, but I saw go chrome or something not black. If you do go black, a polished or blue lip will look good.

yea ...your car has a unique blue color. I think the black rims would look good with your color car. especially since you already have the front corner lenses smoked and obviously like every car, your plastic/vinyl trim color is black...so it makes sense to go black rather than any other color. Chrome looks good with any color though.

plus if you went with the black rims...you could put some black detail on the hood....like on the sides of the cowl or stripes if your into that sorta thing.

I think I might just try the black w/ blue lip just to try something different and see how it works. If it doesn't look fine, I'll just go back to the ZO6's.

Here's chrome for reference. They're an extra set for my dad's vette but the rear didn't quite want to go on and I didn't feel like forcing them. I don't think he'd let me use them anyways and I can't afford tires in 18's.

I agree 100% especially because of the color of your car. You need brite bling bling wheels.
