Nates Custom Salad Shooters

So the rims on my car are really bad, look terrible. Ive wanted to get nicer rims but $$$ isnt really there so I decided to do what many dont: Custom Salad Shooters. I know lots of people dont like the stock salad shooters that came with 4th gen Camaro's but I dont mind them. I was going to have them sand blasted/ powdercoated but decided to see what me and a couple buddies could do. They turned out great. These were Muster's rims a while back and then 01v6cmro and are now mine.

Stripped them down with aircraft stripper and regular paint thinner. Scotch pad, primer, black paint inside, dupli color silver metalic wheel paint out side with 3 coats of Dupont professional clear coat. I have more into pizza/beer then materials. My buddy used to work at a Chrysler dealership and is now looking for small projects, let me know if you want something done, hes cheap.

I'll post up more pics tommrow as the clear was still quite wet to the touch.
Took 3 people 8 hours but two rims are done, two to do next week.

I like the salad shooters but only when there black with a silver lip.


Also with painted rims take them to get balanced and all that good stuff by a good company most people use the metal lip instead of a rubber tip on the wheels to get the tire on and that ruins a paint job. Believe me i've been there and i was furious.

Im going to have the wheel weights put on the inside. The guy that did my buddies 73 duster rims is going to do mine, he takes care of us.

They arnt perfect, you can tell they were done in the garage but compared to what I have...lol.

No, these were spray bombed black before, and didn't look very good at all. They look pretty much stock now, just with a little extra shine, and are black on the inside, lol.

You are refering to pound on wheel weights, and stick on wheel weights. Stick ons cost a little more, but are well worth it.

These look soooo much better in person than in the pics. I am envious, now i think mine look like shit.

And one thing I forgot to mention, duplicolor clear coat sucks. We had to re do one of the rims because the clear....wasnt clear. Made them a pasty grey color. Use real clear coat, I think it will be worth it (brake dust) in a few months.
