Seems like I'd rather keep the v6 then... rather have the same steering feeling with the more power than have the more power AND have to get use to a new steering ratio.

Rock auto shows 3 listed for 99.
Hydraulic Power Steering; w/Firm Ride-Handling Suspension (F41) - Base v6 I assume
(REMAN-RACK & PINION-POWER COMPLETE) 2-3/4 TURNS LOCK TO LOCK AT STG. WHL, FIRM RID - Optional v6/base v8?
(REMAN-RACK & PINION-POWER COMPLETE) CONVERTIBLE; w/RIDE & HANDLING SUSP(FE2) or SPECIAL SUSP(FE4) or HVY DUTY SUSP(FE7) - Fancy bad boy steering rack?1999 Camaro - 6 liters of fury.....

From what I read on CamaroZ28, FE2 is the stock v8. FE4 might be the 1LE? Heavy Duty is probably the B4C.- Brian Meissen

Just a wild guess, but I remember reading something about a cooler for the power steering? Maybe the heavy duty ones have a cooler?Originally posted by JoeliusZ28 View Postwhat would they have made heavy duty about a darn steering rack?- Brian Meissen

That would mean all WS6 and SS cars have the HD rack. Because I'm pretty sure all 98+ WS6 and SS cars had power steering coolers.Originally posted by meissen View PostJust a wild guess, but I remember reading something about a cooler for the power steering? Maybe the heavy duty ones have a cooler?
