  • New Wheels vs. Chrome Dipping?

havnt done much research on this yet but i was wondering if anyone had any information on chrome dipping zr1 wheels? Would it be worth it price wise or should i just look into buying new ones? Im a college student and dont have a ton of money to spend considering im saving up for headers/tune up/optispark

bottom line, would it be worth it and whats the going rate?

When I had my V6 sent my stock 5 spokes out and had them chromed.
Cost me less than 2000 w/ shipping.

Sorry, I can't remember where I sent them

I was happy with the results.

$2000...omg..I hope that was a typo!!! $2K gets a set of custom made billet rims.

With the way the market is flooded with knock-off wheels, I would think it would be cheaper to get a new set vs. messing around with the ones you have

            Nope, that wasn't a typo.

I wanted the 5 spoke chrome rims and the only was I was going to get them was to improvise.
I was 18, worked at Paragon making big money so I found a place in I believe NC and had them chromed.
The quality was very good but now that I know what I know I wouldn't advise it.

And to make matters worse I sold the car
Should have kept it and did what B did but I didn't know much about these cars back then

There's a place in central Indiana that does chrome plating of wheels, but I believe they get somewhere in the neighborhood of $200 a wheel. I would think for that cost you could still buy new ones cheaper!?!?

I payed $500 for my 17x11 Zr1s at tomzwheels.com plus shipping and got a set of sumo's for $325 there not the best brand but imo 325+shipping for a set of tire was a great deal
